Romulator is acting up

When I'm idling, it cuts in and out and the engine almost stalls before the stall saver kicks in. If I put a regular chip in with the same calibration, it runs fine.

Do these Romulators go out after a while? It says there's a battery inside... maybe it's going out? Anyone else experience anything similar?

Might be RFI.
Try a layer of AL foil around the ribbon cable, Romulator, and ground that.
If the foil cures it, look for a bad plug wire, rotor, cap, etc..

Grumpy, thanks. Hadn't considered that. Actually I did some work around the distributor cap recently. I'll go back and re-examine my work to make sure I put everything back together properly. Though, I'm not picking up any RFI in the radio???

The Romulator, seems to be very sensitive, RFI wise.
It even seems at times, that a late model PWM alternator can cause fits for one. I *think* that's the reason it doesn't like my truck.

grumpy - were you able to get the autoprom working with your truck? just wonderin'. I know you were going to try it, but never heard the result.

I thought I'd done a memo about that.
Yes, the Autoprom was hitch free in the truck.
And on the bench, I've gotten it to work with the Radio Shack, Serial to USB adapter.

So far, I haven't been able to do any long term testing, since the weather's been just so miserable.
