Whos Tried Corvette/S-10 Converter for 3rd Gen 305 TPI?

85 305 TPI, mods in sig. Stock converter stalls 1397 or so. Vette / S-10 stalls around 2025 or so. Anyone whos tried this mod, whats your OVERALL impression, both low end and light / moderate throttle in city / highway, WOT, etc? Does this converter feel too "slippery"? Does it rev on light throttle in stop and go?Comments, please.

I used to have one out of an s10. It was rebuilt with a better clutch, but was still an s10 design. In this way, the warranty on the tranny would not be voided. It stalled about 2300 rpm if I remember correctly. It wasnt slippery or anything like you're describing. As a matter of fact, it's still boxed up in my shop. I no longer need it...are you looking for one?

Thanks, but I've already got a line on one, still need to know more specifics about the swap. When mine comes out of storage, I need to check the code on the converter to verify exactly which "K" factor it is. Generally, most had around 1397 stall. I'm looking for driving impressions.

I'm running one out of an astro van, stalls at around 2000 rpm. At idle(800 rpm) it still moves forward. That's still a really mild converter and will have little affect on daily driving.

82Camaro, I assume you switched to this converter from a stock stall (1397 approx typically). Did you notice much more out of the hole? I might do mine this spring myself. I first need to verify which stall mine now is by checking the "K" factor code on the converter . Just wondering if the gain is worth the effort. Comments?

I don't have the code from the converter, and I dont' think it's quite as 'slippery' as the one you are considering. However, I used to run a 2500 rpm stall converter with the th350 I used to have. It was just fine around town. My wifes 95 cutlass 'stalls' at 2500 stock, no problems with it. It's not like your car won't move until it gets to it's rated stall speed and then jerk forward. At 800rpm idle with the 2500 converter, my car would still move forward.
