850 sounds too good to be true, you get what you pay for. i'd figure 1200 or so for a rebuild and r&r. if all you pay for is the rebuild figure 200 dollars or so. you might want to consider a rebuilt replacement. i bought a rebuilt trans from gm with the r&r and a couple of u joint cost me 2000 dollars and i got 30000 or 50000 mile warrenty, can't remember which now.

Gotta agree with the masses on this one. I am also in PA and the going price is anywhere from 1200 to 2000 bucks depending on what components you choose. I suppose you might get lucky and find a guy who is hungry, but make sure of what you are getting.

transmission cooler is HIGHLY recomended, 700-r4's hate heat. i think your stock stall speed is what...1600? or is it 1800rpm's?.. its one of the 2 i think. id just get a 2000 stall and call it a day. shift kits are another great idea!!,, get either a transgo, or a superior brand shift kit. DONT get a B&M

What do you think? Drive like that and you will be getting an overhaul every few years. When I was racing one of the ways we judged trans guy's was by how long we went between rebuilds. If one got a season that was considered great. My other love is motorcycles. I have had various sportbikes over the years and have a hell of a lot of fun without ever replacing a clutch. My friends, well let's just say many of them spend more time fixing than riding. It's all up to you. You mentioned wanting the box to last forever, with powerjacking and holeshots it's a pipedream. If that's your thing one mod I would definitely do is frame support especially if you have T-tops. F body cars are not known for thier structural strength and with that kind of driveing you'll twist her like a pretzel.

i say find a place that will give you a lifetime warrenty. even tell them you are gonna beat the **** out of it.i shoped around for half a week before i desided where i wanted to take my car. i told hiom that im gonna be racing it, taking it the track, burnouts, blah blah blah. he told me as long as i didnt do a neutral drop, or run the car with dangerously low tranny fluid, and i MUST bring it back every year for a fluid/filter change(free of charge)...he didnt care what i did to it.

I live in Virginia Beach and I just asked a tranny shop today how much it would cost to rebuild my TH-350, they said $650 with the trans out of the car and $850 if it's still in it. So I guess that's not a bad price?
