ARE YOU SURE YOURS IS BAD?
I GOT MINE AT AUTO ZONE FOR $149.99+TAX. I CHEKED KRAGEN AUTO PARTS ,SAME PRICE ONCE YOU BUY IT YOU CAN'T RETURN IT. UNLESS IT IS DEFECTIVE. AS IT TURNED OUT FOR ME THE MAF WAS NOT CAUSING MY PROBLEMS AND I AM STILL TRYING TO FIND WHAT IS WRONG.
P.S THERE IS A $80.00 CORE CHARGE.
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU DECIDE.

I am not 100% sure but I keep getting a code 34. I cleaned the connection to the MAF and it ran fine for about five days. Now it is doing the same. I cleaned it again but this time it didnt work.

what are the symptoms of you car problems?
have you changed the burn off relay?
If you have a buddy with a car like yours maybe you can swich MAF for a trial run.

The Wells SU145 is a few bucks more (around $165 I believe), but comes with a lifetime warranty and seems not to be a fragile POS like the normal style. It gets my vote.

My car wont start or idle without me pushing on the gas. I have to keep it at about 1k in order for it to run. I recently had the wires, plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter, and computer replaced.

O.K. JUST TO CROSS OUT THIS POSSIBILITY .
I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR IDDLE AIR CONTROL UNIT (IAC) CONNECTION. MAKE SURE THE CONNECTION IS NICE AND TIGHT. MY BUDDY HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS ON HIS CAMARO.HE ACTUALLY FORGOT TO CONNECT IT AFTER A ROUTINE INSPECTION. ALSO CHECK FOR POWER. IF YOU TURN YOUR IGNITION TO THE ON POSITION, YOU SHOULD HEAR THE (IAC) WORKING.
IAC LOCATED ON THE FRONT OF THE THROTTLE BODY.

well I swapped the relay. The car started without me pushing on the gas. But for the first 30-45 seconds the idle really wasnt stable at all. It would keep going from 500-800. Then it idled fine.
I guess we will see.
thanks

I've had this new oocurance where a code 34 pops up on auto x ray. (MAF). the car runs fine except when slowly accelerating at about 1600 rpm or cruising the highway at 1600 the car has a tendancy to have a sudden power drop off. i can feel it in the pedal and in the feel of the car, and a simple letting out of the gas and getting back it in straightens it out but it continues to do this every day, every minute. if i keep the gas down when i feel the power drop off, the SES light comes on and 34 is picked up through the auto Xray. any suggestion? the burnoff thing... what does it do??? thanx

All the burn-off relay does is send a small current through the sensor wire in the maf after you turn the car off. The idea is to send enough current through to heat the wire and burn-off any particles that may have built up on it. If the computer doesn't sense this event has happened, it'll set a code. This shouldn't affect the way your car runs.

Had the same problem in my TA. Looked over everything possible. Only I wasnt getting a code at all. The car would just not run. It sounded like it was huffing air in when i tried to run it. Like it was getting all air and barely any gas. Someone said unplug the MAF and see what happens. Unplugged the MAF and she started right up right away with no probs. Went to autozone and got a new MAF, threw it on, all is well. Sometimes they dont throw codes I guess....
That other MAF someone suggested, SU145 I think...isthat listed as a part tofit our cars?? Or is it a different part number that will work the same. I work at Autozone and I dont remember seeing a wells number for it.... Let me know what the dealwith that is cuz if it works and its better, I can get the system updated so it comes up with the regular parts. Lifetime warrenty on a MAF would rock.

The wells su145 does exist and does work for 86->up. No autozone does not list it or everyone would already have one. I bought mine off ebay brand new and it works perfect even 1 yr+ later.
If you go to wells website, I forget exactly but I've been there its listed just not many sell it, dont know why. Cost me a whole $75 brand new shipped.
