burning oil after head gasket swap

i blew a head gasket and replaced both of them. after reassembly, i was leaking oil from the back of the intake onto the exhaust and it would smoke so yesterday i pulled the intake and resealed it. it's not leaking any more but now i see that there is oil smoke coming from the exhaust and i must have an exhaust leak because it blows into the cabin. it's not so bad that i can't drive the car but it's definitely noticeable. it's very light at idle but if i jump on it then the amount of smoke increases. before my head gaskets went out the only time it would smoke is on startup and even then not all the time. i will do a compression test this weekend but until then any ideas on what could have caused this?

also, does anyone make extra thick header collector gaskets? i think the flanges might not be exactly parallel and it's leaking there. or can i stack two or three regular gaskets together?

Probably an intake gasket leak.

i used new gaskets when i resealed the intake yesterday. should i have put RTV around the intake ports maybe? i only put it around the coolant passages and at the tips where the gaskets meet the china wall.

is it possible that when the head gasket blew that it somehow screwed up the rings or blew the valve seals off the guides?

Probably not.

One of the intake gaskets probably slipped or tore during installation. It's pretty easy to do.

so yesterday it was idling a little high so i turned the idle screw out but that didn't do anything. today it didn't want to idle at all and after it got somewhat warm it would continuously surge from about 600-1500rpm. so i think i have a vacuum leak maybe? this is what the new gaskets look like now, they seem to have absorbed oil, is this a sign that oil is leaking into the intake ports? i just put them on two days ago. the oil that's on the intake itself has been there forever, so don't mind that.

TIA
