Hi man, Im new :D

Hi man, I'm new. I just bought my new baby and she needs some more power. She's a thirdgen, and therefore I need a thirdgen engine in her. She is very sexy, look at the pic. She has got some rust though, I just covered it with a pack of grey shoe polish :-)

So now I got to thinking. I either need a big smallblock or a small bligblock. So what do I need to do this?

Do I need a converion kit? Or do I just buy a frontclip of a camaro and convert my car to front wheel drive?

How do I get her to sound real "hippie"?

I'm partial to Holley's but would love to keep her drinking habits in place, to support my beer habit

Forgot th pic, duh.

It's my new thirdgen van! It's very rare you see, and I want to swap in a new engine, the old one barely runs. So I though an engine from a camaro would be grand, since they are both thirgens.

"Lay of the refer"? What dooes it mean? You mean I refer to something not supposed to?

I only need some advice on how to do this, or how to plan it out.

I know that the camaro has something called tpi or tipi, either way, tje inection, and whether or not i could use it. Sorry for not being straight to the case, but I though I should say hello first.

I have taken a welding class, i tried welding the doors shut on my old car, and I got the hang of it finally. So i'm certein I could make the necessary, what you call it, big brackets to mount the engine on. All this should go well. I have seen some conversion kits for porsche engines, but too expensive, and not too much power for the dollar.

I havent found anyone selling conversion kits to the 350, although I have found some dead end leads on kits for the 4,3.
So I'm not sure what to do with the bellhousing yet.

I need to know if anyone had a good tip on where to get exhaust in parts, like loose bends in different shapes etc?

As for the gearbox, i'm currently talking to a wrecker about a 911 box from a crashed car. The engine was no good, so the box might get cheap. If that don't wok out, I might just use the old one, and beef it as necessary.

Now, will the tpi do me much trouble? Will it work with a non gm gearbox? Or is there a gm slushbox for a rear engine car? Corvair? What about one of those frontdrive caddy boxes and then switch planetary gear rotation?

Okey, to make this a bit more orderly, i need tips in the following departements:

1. Induction setup that will work with electrics, gearbox and whatnot. Can I use tipi without the 700r4? Like my stock manual?

2. Gearbox, or bellhousing converion of the 350 engine, or perhaps, a universal bellhousing adapter? Or a GM box that would fit? Anyone know who sells the 4,3 conv. kits?

3. Cant think of anything else.

4. oh yes, do hooker sell loose "universal" bends and stuff? or anyone else thats good? I'm all for hooker, reminds me of my last girlfriend

Yeah, those renegade guys know their stuff! It seems it would be mye best bet to get a 177 or ealier 930 box, as it's good for over 700hp

That one will certainly keep itself together. don't know if they are easy to finfd though. I have to look into that.

Although when I read this on their site, i got to do some heavy thinking: "2 signs of quality auto work are wood and duct tape."

I guess they wre talking about the competition or something

This car is a sleeper you see, cheap accomodation, so I need a sleeper engine, and would spin the nuts of others at the summer festivals

So now I got to thinking, again, I read some of therkids stuff, but couldnt see any help in it. Maybe if I read more ill find the answers to anything. I asked if he could help out, will see.

Anyways, I now have alot to think about, and thanks for all greathelp so far. I will check out the supply of those gearboxes and pricing. It would be easier to follow this when I know what box i should work with.

Just had a thought, what about two engines, sideways, one for each rear wheel? Would not need the stupid box then?i

i think the motor you really need would be a mazda rotary engine, & then have twin turbos feeding a super charger & some nitrous for some real kick.

The 700R4 will fit right in without little trouble. A tpi 350 motor will need big brackets fabbed but it's doable. You could do the two engine idea as long as they were both connected via a 3" exhaust pipe. I would try a 40 series flowmaster with straight pipes out the side in front of the drivers door, that way when you are going down the road you can get plenty of carbon monoxide intake. It sounds like you could use some more. That way it would be a true "sleeper."

I don't like the sound of those rotary's or any mazda either. They don't sound hippie like a v8 dos. I don't see how you think one can use a 700r 4, the engine is in the rear behind the gearbox with rearwheel drive. It has to be e mid engine conversion then, but then i miss all my living space, and where should my buddies sit when they come to drink beer then?
