interior is already completely stripped outta the car, i'm going to get the pressure washer tomorrow from storage, then saturday the motor/tranny is coming out and the entire car is getting a scrub-down. then i'm going to fix the dents on the pass side and prep for paint, then the car is getting a full swap from my red car; which, unfortunately has too much rust to do anything with.

nope, but i will...

best part of the whole deal is though: it's virtually rust free. (that's GA red clay you see stuck to the bottom of the car, no rust though )

on a side note, it does have nearly 240k on it. i'm surprised it's in as good of shape as it is! my sfc should liven up the old chassis, right?

no, the 310 will find a new home between the fenders of the 1990. the v6 may go in the sportcoupe though. gonna have a really hard time letting that car go. might just throw something simple together to go in the sportcoupe so i can still drive it.

hmmmmm.....you know, i gotta do something different though. i am really contemplating a spoiler delete on this car. i tried it on the sportcoupe and the rear was just too skinny without it. i think that with the gfx, it may just look right! well, i'll try it any way and see what i think.

on an unrelated note: i'm surprised no-one has said a word about the m/t's out back...

Thats a pertty good fine. You be surprised how many people let these cars just rot.

Good luck with the project, I am in similar situation helping someone with an 86 iroc.

Shame the 6 is going in the SC, but that 310 should be sweet in that RS.

Gonna be sad to see your SC lose its drivetrain. Your SC was my favorite on the boards.

Nice find. Explain that group photo, lots going on lol.

Whats up lady in the white top

the groupe photo, well, we had a bbq at my place the day after i got the car home and so, we were just all there having fun. i am actually not in the pic, i was taking the pic. not really sure what your talking about with the lady with the white top. she is actually very modest, so maybe that pic is playing tricks on you.

i hate to see the sc leave. i don't know if i will try to revive it with something or not. the rs is going to be badass though. i can't wait to get it done. don't worry, it will be different from other thirdgens though. i won't let it be just another run of the mill thirdgen.

Looks like a good project. My advice for the SC: if it has enough rust to make you ditch the chassis, just get rid of it. Unless you got alot of extra time on your hands or something, its probably going to take up alot of time you should be spending with that new RS and produce less than exciting results. Just my .02

Devian you're not joking man. If you can believe it I'm in the process of working on 4 3rdgens at the same time, soon to be 6!! Its really taking a toll on me. More of a headache scheduling, re-arranging, planning, etc than actually working on the cars!!

well, i'll probably ditch the sc then. i can't stand to have too many cars. right now, the two camaros and my moms van (they are outta town for 4 months) are all at my house and it's too much as it is! i couldn't imagine adding another thirdgen!

Ya looks to be a good project, hell even just cleaned up im sure it would look decent right now. Looks to be really dirty thats about it i didnt see any rust as you alrdy stated.

Have fun with it, id love to just start out new and fresh and build a car up then already get one in good condition.

Thats why i just dont like new cars, there nothing to do with them they are already complete!

Even still ill take the looks of a thirdgen over almost all the new cars on the road

i'll have to get back to you on that one. just depends on funds.

the engine bay is nearly completely dissassemble now and the entire car (with the excpetion of inside) has been pressure washed. the engine bay will recieve a new paint job before i swap anything over. probably just rattle can, but it will be done right.

Congrats on the find! Nice one!

Hope you are going to still come to the Gathering with the SC before it gives up its 310 to the RS...would like to meet it before it is a shadow of its former self!

As far as projects...I'm up there too...would be nice if any of the following ran! Talk about over your head!

1: The only running car...RAIF! Who is now at the muff shop! And when he returns will go down! Yes getting the 3in exhaust...overkill only for a short time...Turbo coming very soon...then it will be just right! He is about to go under the performance knife again...exhuast was only the start! Heads coming off when he comes home...getting milled by machine shop...infinate angle valve job...new valves...new 1.6 rockers & some real springs this time (duals)...MSD box on the way...custom chip on the way...new custom intake on the way...65mm ford tb!
I'm glad most to the work is being farmed out! I don't know if Joe and I could get it all done by the gathering! All we have to do is remove...I port the heads & base as far as they will go...not sure if shop going to do the spring install...then install everything... though we are doing the MSD ourselves & the TB linkaging

2: A dually with a 500 at the machine shop...still has its interior!

3: A scout rolling chasis with the bed half cut out due to the rust monster with a 500 sitting on the engine stand...has 2 tops so we can do a choped scout!

4: The 82 stripped to a rolling chasis primed with the lt1 on the engine stand...still waiting to get my notchback back! Good news though...I wanted to put a fiero spoiler on till I find a Mecham spoiler...well I found a place that sells wing stands for the fiero that are a bit taller then stock 2inches to 8inches! Thought that might be cool!

5: The pulsar with the engine repainted Tangelo orange, but sitting on a tire...all the rest of the parts black, tangelo, pewter, or polished...in the car in boxes...new seats, new rims, new spoiler...all waiting to get installed!

6: Finally the new addition...84 Indy Pacecar fiero...nope it does not run either! Though hopefully that will change soon! This one is getting our full attention!

And everything needs new tires! AAACCCKKK!

But the funny thing...I finally told Mom about all the new top secret projects! Hidden at Joe's...(Mom is going to build a new house, which I will buy from her eventually...till now rent goes to morgage...sucks when you are single...no loans...) We will both live there till current house sells then it will finance her new house to be built in NC! She has agreed to make the 2 car garage a 4 car and add a carport to the original plans!

Man was I rambling...sorry!

Just wanted you to come to Gathering so we could hit the dyno...figured you would appreciate it when I brave the dyno with all my new goodies!

i don't know about getting to the gathering. right now, the money is REALLY tight. i am not even putting money into the white car right now. just getting it ready for the new motor. i have to spend some money on the fuel system and then buy the new guages, but really, that's it.

You gotta do a tribute to the SC though, as it was sweet! Maybe a burnout vid or something.

Gonna miss it, but I think the RS will surpass the SC in every way. Good luck on the project!

Heck there are 2 dead 3rd gen that I know of that I have been begging the owners to part with... one is a white (91-92?) that has been sitting for 5 years...supposed blown 350! Interior is tan and shot from water damage... its the womans x husbands. he just left it there. I got here number, and her mine, but she has not decided when or how much to sell it for. The thing is not worth much at all. It has the hagh rise spoiler, but it was bust along with the back window! Has the daytona hood on it!

*****

The other is a 2.8 bird that has been up on ramps for at least 5 years. Guy is a complete liar though. Went buy and talked to him. fresh out of prison. He says it has not been on ramps more then a week! OH: I drive by there everyday! Says its so fast...blah , blah! Can't keep a tranny in it! (He gets used ones form the salvage yard down the street) Probably all on their last leg! Still on ramps over 6mo later!

I asked he wants $500.00, but the tranny is toast...interior shot....not a straight body panel on it. He does not have the title...its some relatives car that has been passed around... ok do I look stupid! So I told him to get his hands on the title and call me! If he got the title then we would talk him down $ wise. If we did not hear form him, we would wait and go back...get the vin...talk to a cop friend see what its past is like. If he could check into getting a title reissued by inpsecting it if so offer $100.00 for the car w/o title and bad tranny...$500.00 I can get the tranny rebuilt! Boom daily driver! Who cares if its straight! I nee a car I don't car about to just drive!

So almost a year later since I went by...should I go offer that $100.00 now!

****

Only reason I have not pursue either harder is the fact I ahve no where to put them now. Got to get some of the INOPS I have going agian first! I thnk 7 INOPS would be excessive! Like 5 isn't!

alright, so i though i could do the gfx car thing. after staring at my car at many different angles and having the two side by side. i may be building a sportcoupe out of the rs. i'm about to go out and take the gfx and related stuff off the car right now, just to see how hard it would be to get it there....the inspiration you ask? my buddy and i went to look at a berlinetta today for himself. he is slowly becoming a car guy and wants something to play with. well, we talked the guy down to $400 for the berly and we are going to go pick it up on thursday. so now we'll both have non-gfx camaros. gives me reason to not build the gfx cars! i am still going to go with the iroc wheels though. and i'm probably going to cut a coil off the front springs (v6 springs!) to reduce the wheel gap up there and try to get the nose down a bit. with the way i have the rear suspension set up right now on my current ride, the rear tires have almost no fender gap and yet is still plenty high enough off the ground to accomodate the dual exhaust, which i have NEVER scraped. (even has an h-pipe...hehe). basically, i'll be looking at about a 1" drop in front. look in sig for basic stance, but picture white and with 85-87 iroc wheels with 295/50/16's on them.

Just imagineTWICE the fun of owning one, especially if they both are running well. I just come out and decide which one I am driving today.

i already have 2 Iroc's and I just picked up an 84 Z 2 - 3 weeks ago for $150 It just needs a motor and a little TLC and it'll be bad! previous owners already ran 2 1/2 duals all the way back. but put glasspacks on it that are rusted out. So I'm going to straight pipe it. Especially since by the time it's done emissions in this area will be gone. If anyone wants to check it out it's the last one in my sig

All my INOP projects were all destined for the scrap yard before I stepped in!

the guy i am renting the house from out here knows that i have a hotrod, but i don't think he knows how indepth i build these things. i hope he doesn't find out either. my buddy is buying an 84 berly that he doesn't have room for at his apt complex till it's up and moving, so i told him to keep it here. i hope that i can get my two done and the one that i am not using either needs to be sold or scrapped. if anyone wants to try there hand at fixing some rust issues on an 87 sc after i am done, they can buy the thing from me for cheap.

i also have to get on the berly to get her up to shape and ready to run everyday.

anyway, i got the front and rear bumper covers off, and all gfx are off and are sitting in my porch area waiting for someone to buy them. if your interested, pm me.

What if you don't have a worse one? Both of mine run and look just fine. Definetly no reason here to sell. More fun to just pick which one to drive. Now me and the wife have his and hers 3rd gens. Looks really cool to drive down the street together.
