11's and 12's with stereo
Question..
Very heavy stereo system is in my car.,
I repeat.. very heavy..
I dont have the weight specs to post..
but I would say... aprox 375 Lbs of
weight in the back with amp racks, amps, speakers and MDF enclosures.....
here is the question....
Do you guys think I can still run
11's and 12's when I get a 350 with
great heads, and intake......etc....

I know your asking about running it with the stereo equipment, but why not just figure out a set up to where you can remove all the stereo equipment(or close to all of it) whenever you go to the track? Its not like your gonna be going to the track every day and removing/putting back your stuff. This is gonna be every once in a while, so why not just dump all that stuff every once in a while? I'm not trying to be mean, but hauling an extra 350 lbs of stuff to the track with you just doesn't see all too smart.

the key would be to lighten the car every where else. we lighten the cars we build here as much as possible and then add the weight back in the rear for traction when a specific minimum is required by a sanctioning body. since most of the weight of the stereo is in the rear you could do like that as well. switch to a chromoly 4130 tubular k member, a-arms, coil over aluminum HAL front struts, a flaming river manual steering box or manual rack and pinion steering conversion, lose the A/C if you will, aluminum heads, aluminum water pump, aluminum radiator, pull out the carpet remove the sound deadner (some is baked/sprayed on [use heat gun and scraper]) and put the carpet back in, convert to "power nothing" in the doors and rear hatch, look around for barely comfortable but lighter seats, find suitable but lighter crossovers, amps, speakerbox materials and speakers, convert to a lighter tranny (from 700r4 to th200, th200c, or powerglide) or if manual keep it a T5 they are pretty light for the standard. there is more that I might not be adding but most of it is safety related so I wont suggest you remove crash plates or drill silly holes (leave that to the pros)
