Question about my new sub in spare tire well

I just put in my 10" coustic into my spare tire well. I am pushing it with a 200watt pioneer(just needed something cheap). I sounds pretty good right now. My question is to people that have subs in the tire well. With it being behind the plastic, will it sound better/louder with it sealed or ported. I listen to mostly rock and metal so I like the tight bass of a sealed box, but if I can make it thump just a little louder that too would be cool.

Thanks Brian

i can answer it but i got a question for you! I'm making my car more for performance now and a spare tire sub is perfect to rid myself of my huge box. Did you make the box or buy it. Either way, where you buy it, or how did you make it???

I just made a basic box for it, nothing fancy. If I remember it was 17.5"X12"X7" I will have to check my plans. It fit in there pretty snug so that it wont be moving around. I can take some pics of it tonight if you would like.

Those are the specs on it. Here are the pics. I was going to put black carpet on it, but it isnt visible. I will wait until I have my 2 12's.

hes refering to the fact that most of the gas supports on F-Bodies tend to stop working and you have to use a prop rod to keep it up. Thanks for the pics.

Re: Question about my new sub in spare tire well

Hello there, 89blackGTA. I realize this way posted a LONG time ago but just recently managed to get back into my account.
I am very much liking the subwoofer box you built for the spare tire area. I would very much like to do the same but am not finding the dimensions you attached.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
