kms/miles on your rides

im just curious...i only have 129,000kms(well almost) orginally on the car, i know this is kinda different because i see alot of other fboudys nearing the 200,000 maybe more plateau...now am i alone with my 87 iroc being so low in kms for it being original or do others share my bliss??

Rolling up to 77,960 (only had the car for 3 weeks and i have almost 1,000miles on it) miles. Not bad for 2500 and my lowest mile car yet. (never had a car newer than 1978 before this, but never higher than 120,000 miles either.)

My 87 SC had 268,000km on the V6 but I killed the oil pan so it now has a 305... the body had 275,000 on it now

My Mom's 92 RS had 35,000 km when she bought it (in '98); It now has 82,000km

Here is my $.02

1984 15th Anniversary 32,440 original miles
1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am 5,841 original miles

and I don't expect to see a whole lot more this year. I've had the 15th T/A out once this year and the 20th out twice. So much to do and with so little time.....

My '86 Trans Am just hit 154,000 miles. Not bad for a beater that I bought for $450 last October. In fact, I just drove it from Chicago to New York City and back last month with no problems at all. That car loves being on the highway.

After returning from the trip, I checked the oil, as it had been about 1500 miles since I last put oil into it, and I was certain it needed a quart. But the oil on the dipstick was right there at the "full" line. Pretty amazing, considering how much abuse my car suffered in the hands of previous owners (at least one wreck and a lot of half-assed mods).

If it didn't need so much work, I'd probably hang onto it and fully restore it, but I think I'll save my money for a 5.7L GTA instead.

I have 112,552 as of today (7-10-02). The car had 99,000 back in 1998 when I bought it. The car runs good but needs new valve seals pretty bad.

64,000miles on my '92. Hopefully I can quit using it as a 1/2 time driver before too long and retire it to garage duty.

1989 Iroc Convertible with 67k on the ticker - all original parts for the most part. Runs great, drives great, lives in the garage.

With the temps in the high 90's down here, it's gonna have to stay in the garage until September. Pisser.

Well if it was a piece of ****, it would of broke already , i think people might of have been talking about the power and performance of it instead related to their motors probably, hey for me any v8 is good.

This is not thirdgen related but, our family van has the original motor and has never been opened up at all. The whole car has 262,780 miles on it. It's a 1989 chevrolet astro v6 (4.3), automatic.

We bought this Formula350 new in 1990, and just hit 112800mi. Our L98 also has the "007 on startup" condition These cars go forever (original drivetrain).

Yeah our cars are built general motors tuff.
Yeah most cars do last long if you take care of them. One of the biggest things is changing oil and filter regularly, every 3,000 miles.

I think the best testiment to the durability of these cars is the number of original cars that you still see on the road. Camaros and Firebirds lead pretty rough lives in lots of cases -people don't generally buy them to put-put along to work like in a basic Mazda or whatever. These cars are getting old, have lots of miles, have been driven hard for a long time and are still chugging along.

I could care less how many miles are on my 91 since it's just a beater/daily driver anyway. My 92 however I've had for more than 2 years and I've put 30K miles on it! I just can't stop driving it I love it so much! It still looks just as good if not better than the day I bought it

Nice cars 92GTA, when i bought my car it had been through 62,XXX miles and 2 owners, so now its my daily driver (only car i have), i only have a 20 mile round trip to work and i usually cruise about 50 to 100 miles on a good weekend, so i should not put that many miles on the car. I like driving it, it makes me feel great. Hey in my sig. you see my quarter mile times, would i be into the low to mid 13's with those slp goodies on your site? That article said quarter mile times drop a full second.

Thanks. Yeah if you got all those parts you would for sure be in the 13's. I'd guess mid 13's though off the bat. It takes allot to get into the low 13's. To tell you the truth my car shouldn't be as fast as it is, it just is and I haven't figured out why yet but I'm in no hurry

172K MI on the car everything is orginal and in good shape. Rebuilt the TRANS, damm 700R4, and painted the car. Other than regular maintenance and a few interior parts its what came on the car. The car is my Daily Driver.

50,500 Miles. When i bought it in '86 it had 19,000.

Took it to the Syracuse Nationals today, first show it's been in in 5 years. Going back for more sunburning on Sunday.

It will be 20 years old on Monday the 29th.

Sheesh!!! I thought I had high mileage at 251,000 and counting. The best part is that it's mostly original. The only things not orginal are some suspension parts, poly mounts and some mild mods. LONG LIVE THE F-BODY!!!!!!:hail:

Does anyone who posted on this thread not have the valve seal woes? I'm assuming the majority of us all have this problem.

I do not have that problem, but I rebuild my f-body engines. I feel as though that most of these cars have been raged on so I rebuild my engines before I drive them too much anyway... Its one of those little things that I do... It saves me ALOT of headaches in the future...

I almost forgot:
67 Riviera 150,000
77 Electra 150,xxx (sold)
*83 T/A - 136,xxx Miles
*83 camaro (with 87 T/A engine) had 200,xxx on odometer.
83 Riviera 196,000 (sold)
90 Riviera 191,000 (for sale)
*91 Formula had rebuilt engine and trans / body had 150,xxx (sold)
*95 Formula LT1 Convert 10,000 (sold)
95 Riviera 95,6xx

As you can see, I have never had a problem with GM products...

Rolling around to 185,000 miles on original 2.8L. Man trans, most of car still original, with the exception of wheels, stereo, and cold air intake. A few of the usuals replaced but nothing major. Engine burns next to no oil and runs excellent, knock on wood. I am 3rd owner of this car, and i plan on being the last owner of it. Even though its a 6 banger i love it to death. I have other vehicles with the umph that the 6 lacks, so im not deprived lol. Edit: I lied well no i forgot, front end is (i believe) from an 83 or 84. You can see it in the pic (which is horrible)

189,000 on body and same suspension .
189,000 on original fuelpump in tank
20,000 on new motor
10,000 on new 700r4

NO RUST under car . Minor rust under back bumper on metal , very minor minor rust on roof which is not noticable unless I point it out to you .

I am the third owner of the car , Yes its one of the rare 88 RS models from Van Nuys .

I have the window sticker , buildsheet , maintanence shedule , owners manual . I even have the first owner's proof of insurence papers ...Original owner was a 75 year old man in Texas .

All the codes on the door are still in tact , and codes on inside of console are still there .

I bought the car when I was 16 . Yes , I BOUGHT it from working . I've had it sence 95 and I will be 24 in Nov and have no plans of getting rid of it .

The builsheet was found about 2 years ago underneeth my drivers seat attached by the wiring . It had been there hanging down sence I got the car and didn't know what it was and didn't want to throw it away .

I love looking at those pics of your 86. My family bought a red iroc new in 86. We don't have it anymore but i remember ridin' around in a brand new iroc as a kid. Do you ever or will you ever drive yours? Or will it always be sort of a museum piece? Sorry, I'm sure a lot of people have already asked you this.

Well hey, I'm once again 3rd gen less, but I still wanna post

My '89 2.8 RS had 96k on it when I sold it in March '02...my mom bought it brand new in '89. Ran like a top except for an exhaust leak and bad valve seals. Burned 1 qt every 1,500 miles, but it had done that since near-new. Leaked nothing, and was absolutely mint. I hated to sell it, but in the long run, saving a 6 wasn't in my best interest. Some 16 yr old girl has had it for 4 months now, and is already selling it. She's owned it long enough to smoke in the pristine interior, and scuff up the ONLY nose left on an original paint third gen that wasn't scuffed I wanna buy it back

My '89 Formula I only owned from April to July of '02...bought it with 102k and sold it with 105k. It was going to be an awesome project car, but in the end, I discovered it was cheaper (and I'd be happier) with a super-low-mileage, $10k IROC...and yes, after 4 more years of payments on the Grand Am, I will finally own my IROC

Meanwhile, my 30th I bought with 41k on it on 3/15/01, has 48k now, and will not pass 49k by the end of the year. This one will never see over 2k/yr again...and it is pristine Although I wish it had lower mileage like some of the third gens around here

I might put a few more miles on it at some point. It just sits there covered up in the garage. I need to start it up again here in the very near future.

Museum piece? Who knows, but I doubt it. I would say it will end up in my sons garage in the future at some point ( 15 -20 years ).
