Wing vs. Wingless

I live in OKC. I have seen maybe 3rd gen cars. Some nice, most not. Most of the not have high *** ugly wings on their cars. I am a fan of wingless wonders. Granted, when your doing well over 130, the downforce does help, but you also have to consider looks. 60% performance, 40% looks. Let me know what you all think about wings (in general, but mainly on 3rd gens)

I like the wrap around spoilers the best. The high-rise Z28 style isn't bad, though.

yeah the wrap around aint too bad at all. As a matter of fact, if i had to have a spoiler, it would be a wrap around. thanks for the pic

now i got love for most of all my 3rd gen bro's and sis's, but this... come on bro. You can get the same effect with a decent, nice looking spoiler. Just my personal opinion

If you're talking stock wings, I prefer the stock RS wing that Mark posted. I think it matches the lines of the car better than the z28 high rise.

If I was going to go aftermarket I would go with the 5 inch spoiler from this thread

But my ultimate favorite wing I've seen on a 3rd gen is from the Evo II Kit Car based off the 3rd gen f-body platform:

That wing embodies the GT Styling that I like (also represented in Revlimits pic there, but not as agressive).

yeah I prefer the Evo I to the EVO II just because I think it looks alot cleaner. But I know the wing your talking about. That 5" one isn't that bad at all, but I was talking about spoilers in general, aftermarket or stock. The ones that contour with the backend are my favorite.

That evo II is there a website for it, Couldn't find it in a search.

I like the wrap around spoiler, the f-body just looks like something is missing if there is no spoiler what so ever. I had a friend with a rs that had no spoiler, never thought it looked right.

yeah that spoiler that you had picture is perfect. It's pretty high rise rise, so it's effective, and also looks nice. Those are the spoilers I like. Not the generic ones.

I'm still kinda torn between the high rise, and the 5 inch w/third brake light. I have a 5in at home with brake light ready to go on instead of the stock 3.5in w/o brake light. I will most likely stick with the 5 inch, it DOES fit the car better.

The wrap around spolier on the 87 IROC is the only functioning one there is that give down force at speed. May slso be on the 88 & 89 also. The high wings spoil the looks of the cars smooth lines, My Opinion.

True True. I dont think I would put a 5" spoiler on. I've seen them on some cars (non-modified and very modified) and they just dont do it for me. Now my 84 maro has no bumper extenders, side skirts or any of the ground effects. No spoiler either, and it kinda makes my back end a lil plain and skinny looking.

I personally like the "aero spoiler" from 85-90 that came on the Trans AM, formula and GTA...

I think they give the best overall look to the car...

But I will admit, I am biased....

I like to keep my car looking as stock as possible. But if you like the high wings go for it. It's your car, do what you want.

In my opinnion the `91 & `92 high rise Z28 spoilers look the best on camaros... `91 & `92 Trans Am/ GTA spoilers look awesome!!!!

yeah stock looking is my fav really. Then u can assume what is under the hood. Most aftermaket wings give off an aggressive behavior.

I can't believe you got rid of that Z28 spoiler. It was the greatest.

It was nice, but it was a little to skinny, it didn't go evenly over the rear hatch area.

I guess everyone to their (BAD) tastes With the BIG rice
wings. Lets keep the 87 style wrap around wing that works and not add additional drag. My opinion!:hail: :hail:

May not be your taste, but here is a picture of it anyway.....

Well that wing isn't too bad. Maybe it's one of those things that turns you away in the beggining, but grows on you. I like the hard to find 5" wrap around. I hardly see any cars with those on. And I just purchased a stock wrap around from a 83 camaro. I also got a few more of the ground effects. I just need the one under the bumper. Any sellers??

The one that I posted earlier is a 4th gen style wing. I really like it! Here's another shot of it. I think Hawks Third Gen Parts also offers it.

Yes, but even so, it was still his car, I figured he'd come defend it.

Agreed on bashing people's cars. Wait until someone asks for an opinion, but do it tactfully... sheesh. It can be funny sometimes, but it can be pretty hurtful and discouraging when you are getting bashed, especially when your car is your pride and joy and you put a lot of effort into making it how you want it.

Though I do realize it is quite possible that he didn't know that was IROC2nv's car. But, if he's really been here 3 years...

I've been off and on. I went over seas to saudi for a year so I missed out on a lot. My aim wasn't to bash, but I understand how you can construe it as such. I appologize if I've offended anyone.
I was just trying to point out my opinion of a bad choice of a spoiler. Once again, i appologize for any hurt feelings.
