I've Got Horrible News....

My external hard drive 40GB one, which had 18GB worth of info on it, including all of my car pics, car show pics, 3rd gen meets, and videos are gone. All gone. I'm so mad right now.

Can't you retrive them using Norton Disk Doctor or a similar program like that?

Hmm.... all the more reasons to get a RAID setup. You need about 4 hard drives for the best results. If one of them should crash or burn possibly explod all you do is unplug it and plug in a new one and from the other hard drives it can rebuild what the crashed one had onto the new one that you put in. So basicly if one should fry just replace it and lose no data at all. COOL SHAT!

I can help you troubleshoot what broke and maybe help you find a place that can help you get your data back. If you filled out your product registration when you bought the drive, and its still within 3 years, after you get the data back, Maxtor will replace it free of cost and you can be right back where you started within a week.
