rear end swap???

Car: 87 Trans Am
Engine: 355ci
Transmission: w/c T5
rear end swap???

swaping out the non posi rearend that has drum braks, and swaping it with one with a posi and has disk brakes. Question is what do you have do for the brake system, do i just hook up the lines or what????

NO! you need to order an aftermarket proportioning valve. you can get them at summit. then there is a tech article here on thirdgen on how to install it, by just swapping the lines, you will only create problems for yourself. good luck

direct bolt in, just make sure the parking brake lines hook up right, and i believe you need the proportioning valve off the master cyclinder, but i have heard for the pbr disk that you do not to change it..

if you have the new PV, flat sided maCHINED ALUMINUM YOU DON'T NEED TO CHANGE IT, IF YOU HAVE THE ROUND CAST EARLIER STYLE YOU NEED TO CHANGE. sorry about the cap lock, fat fingers

I am not 100% positive here, but... DOn't you have to change the brake booster and Master cylinder to make the change from drum to disc due to the pressure difference. Like I said not 100% here.

I have an '87 Camaro RS w/ non-posi drum that I swapped an '87Iroc rearend w/ posi and disc brakes about a year ago. The only modification I did was the removal of the spring and plunger from the front of the PV to increase pressure. My brake system feels top-notch. I run aftermarket rotors and carbon-matrix pads.
