Installing a TPI V-8 in place of the "6"
I have just completed this project. I had a donor car so it did help.
I removed everything from the donor car and placed it on an engine stand so it would be easy to swap things. I then removed the harness from the donor car and installed it on the motor. Next, I removed the V-6 and wiring harness and the motor mounts, radiator, fans, transmission and misc. Installed the correct heater tubes and hoses and prepared the engine bay for the trans plant. Once I dropped the engine in I then went about connecting all the wires (all the plugs matched up) to the new car, even the firewall connector. I then routed the harness back thru the fender and into the inside of the car. Again all the connectors matched up (checked all the wire colors to make sure). Installed the computer and plugged it in. Reinstalled the V-8 trans, bolted everything down, then rechecked all my connections, hooked up the battery and turned the key on, (of course I already changed out the guage cluster) spun the starter and wella she fired up. I installed the V-8 radiator (3 row and dual fans) to go with the '88 serpentine setup.
Now for a little tuning and she will be already to go.
This is a really clean '87 Firebird "305" TPI, the motor was rebuilt a year ago and the trans is a '92 4L60 with all the good stuff in it. It has good tires all around and nice looking wheels.
The car will be _for sale_ so if any one is interested contact me.
My project car is an '87 Firebird as was the donor car.
It would make somebody a real nice driver.

'87 Swap
Took her down to the "check only" station today "WOW" I can't believe how clean it passed. Way below all the average #'s. Just need the plates now and down the road she goes. I took her for a spin while I was at it, runs good for a "305" TPI. ('98 Vortec cam).
