Need help diagnosing TPI woes.

I just fired up my first 3rd gen and its an 86 Z with 305 tpi. It has some serious power problems along with many others. Ill list them:
1: NO POWER, wouldnt even break the tires loose in the rain
2: High idle, then likes to die when put in gear, idles at 1000- 1300 in park and 500-600 in gear if it doesnt stall out.
3: Hesitation: has horrible throttle response, takes longer than it should to rev up.

One problem i have to idea on is that the cat started to glow red. Somebody told me that the car is running way too rich and that would solve alot of the above mentioned problems but i am weary about just taking it to a shop and telling them to fix it. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dude your cat is the root of all your problems...Usually when a cat glows red is cause it is plugged. Unless your exhaust manifolds are glowing too...it's the cat. Go to your local muffler shop and get her fixed. This will make the car run like crap for sure. And give it that no ***** feeling. It will alos stink like roughting eggs kinds. HTH

I agree, eliminate that issue, and if your problems persist move on to other possible causes....
