Well you're in luck.... I happened to be changing my header gasket the other day, and since this question gets asked so much, I snapped a few shots. This car has Edelbrock TES on it, but all the harware around the brackets is stock; I made spacers to exactly duplicate the exhaust manifold thickness.

Here's the lower bracket, it needs to be put on first.

Here's how the hardware needs to be assembled on the exh man bolts. Note that these are studs, not bolts, and note the placement of the washers.

Here's what it looks like with all 3 of them on there. Note the stud and washer where the top (pivot) of the power steering pump will go.

Heh, I've been running without that small bracket ever since I put the engine back in the car a few years ago. Now I finally know where to put the silly thing.

stud on number one

I used a cheaper version that works the same. I used a piece of threaded rod and screwed it into the head tightened it down with a lock washer and and nut. I then put the bracket on the end of the threaded rod. I bolted the the bracket to the front of the head first then I used a jam nut on the inside of the bracket and tightened the bracket on the 1 stud with another lock washer and a nut. I then cut the piece of threaded rod of that was sticking out with a hack saw and filed down the rough edges. Total cost $2.14 doesnt look bad either.
