Latest thirdgen drawings

I know some you love these and some of you hate it when I post them. I decided to only post them when I get a stack of them instead of posting them individually in a different thread.

Some turned out great, some didn't. The pics look great on my computer, but once I upload them they don't look so great.

Some of the drawings are mine and some are drawings of other members future rides. The drawings I do now are a bit different than the previous ones I have done in terms of the way I make them.

I was going to post these next week, but why wait. Not all of them are finished so I will be adding them once I finish them.

The pearl blue Iroc is sweeeet!!! That's almost the same color I'm painting my project '85 Iroc. I'm going with "Yamaha Blue". I got the paint code off of my friends '99 R-1. I LOVE that color, and can't wait to see my car in it!!!

You know how much I usually dislike the styling of people's artistic creations, but I do really like the headlight treatment on Steve's red version. Very, very cool.

Hey look its the 82TA. (the first one) Thanks again Devian! Your drawings are great. Now I just have to decide on a hood. ASCD Ram Air I or II. What do you guys think? Which hood would look best?

seriously , ram air I , the II is just butt ugly IMHO

here is mine, just like most of those, I added the front wheell from a picture. I drew a picture of the drag car and then I looked at a pic of mine to get the color and the reflections and all right. Nice work on all of those!!!

I dont know why the front fender looks too bright on here, it looked better than that when i made it, I atleast hope.

Don't worry the 82 is staying a one spoiler car

I originally was thinking R A I. Its more sleek. Since I saw the RAII I thought it was a bit too tall, but then this car is going to be a beast, so the extra room and brute look might be fitting. And on some cars that hood is quite fitting. Now on mine though?

Thanks, but there isn't that much talent involved. It's basically just drawing a sorry looking car and perfecting it by by drawing more and more until it starts to look good.

amish_Z28,

Most car drawings I do know I just trace the outline of a car using a light table to get a basic shape. Then I draw whatever I want onto the basic drawing, hood, wing, groundeffects, etc. I photoshop the actual wheels and lights on, but know I just photoshop the headlights and wheels.

I use photoshop in all of my drawings. I color the cars using two seperate layers: one layer with no wheels, lights, exhaust windows, and grills. The other layer is the complete car, but with no color. I do this so I can change the color of the car without getting any of that color on the wheels, lights, etc. It takes a bit of time to do that though. What takes the longest cleaning it up like little specs of blue or red here and there that I often miss at first glance. That's basically how I do them.

1986z28,

That's cool too. One thing I can not do is add reflections. The closest I can come too it is adding shadows. I could use the light filters to do this for me, but its not so easy to use so I just don't use it.

redraif,

The revision is on its way. I'll try to find some other 6 spoke wheels that have a lip to them. I'll be making the rear a little more unique too.

FLYNLOW92rs,

Yes, your're drawing was one of my best ones, but now it has some competition.

Thirdgens are not my favorite cars to draw, but I do like doing them. I'm working on some Beemers and one-off ideas at the moment and I am thinking of some more 5th gen ideas.

My days of doing thirdgen drawings may come to end. My last official one will be of my car, which I still have yet to finish. I'll still do some for those who want them of their cars, but those will be the only exceptions. I moving on to other models and manufacters.

If you are talking about the windshield and glass this is what I do.

Layer ------> New Layer Fill-------->Gradient

After that you will get a number of boxes to change the way it fades from one color to another or you can choose a preselected one. If you want to use your own colors you have to fill those two side by side boxes on the bottom of the toolbar on the left before you use the gradient fill option. Hope that helps.

Hey bubbakutz, I do believe your car is glowing. I'm no Michael Jordan at doing these drawings, but I would say I'm a Karl Malone, LOL. There are a couple other members that can do drawings like mine - even better, but they aren't doing any as far as I know.

Anyways, this is Redraif's revised TA.

I love all of these drawings. I especially like the way you have some that set in real backgrounds. Kinda sureal. Can I request one of the NiteRider before you retire...Please......Maybe a Black car will be a challenge to you but I doubt it as it seems you have perfected thiis style. Here's the pic I want. Thanks man

Good job, man! Those look great... I love the the nose treatments on some of those. Really modernizes the classic lines of the thirdgen F-body! You need to send those drawings to GTAuto so we can buy the body kits! Makes me miss my Trans Am....

Oh man I would ask you to do what I want but I don't have the car, I could find pics for you though if you wanted to do it. It would be a black 92 trans am with t tops and some other secret stuff that I don't wanna tell people about just because I wanna get the car and get the work done before I go showing it all. If you would want to though send me a PM and I will get pictures to you.

Actually I can tell you are using my picture because on the pictures of cars with ground effects, you used my nose.

The cars that came with ground effects dont have a formula nose like mine (cutout nostrils vs the ones that sorta slat in from the center. Check out a 91-92 TA to see what I mean) The only reason mine loks like that is because I took the grilles out of the nose and added trans am foglights. There was some bady work involved

Hey devianb...nice nose on the wide bodied bird. I like it...

The widebody's tailights...that is close to what Mine will look like on the 82. They will just not have the horizontal bar in the center of the light and the black areas will be body color....I can't decide on the red refectors on the bottom of the light...leave them or take them off....

Fun fun....I can't wait till the car actually begins coming together. I just need 2 fenders and I will be on my way....

That looks good man. What is the difference between Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop?

Illustrator works with vector based art. It is all about smooth lines, flat colors, and crisp edges. Photoshop is all about raster art which is made up of all pixels. In illustrator, you can resize any picture as big as you want and it will still retain the same excellent quality, whereas in photoshop, if you resize an image too big, it gets "grainy". There are advantages to both programs, but for the kind of work you do, Illustrator is the way to go. It's not too hard to learn, as long as you are very capable with the pen tool.

Thanks Steve,

I guess I will have to give illustrator a try. I am not a fan of the grainy pixels because it affects the quality when saved and uploaded.
