Caravan to Memorial Day gathering
Hey guys, I figured I'd post this early so we can actually get something planned. Basically, if anyone will be taking 294 to the gathering, I think it would be cool to all meet up or pick up others along the way. Last year the idea was to meet at the Hinsdale Oasis, but no one showed. Anyone interested in getting something together?

Well I don't know about everybody else, but for you two, 127th and Cicero would be a good, central location to get on 294. Maybe we could meet in the parking lot on rt83 and Cicero by Target or something. Its a huge lot.

That sounds good. Maybe we can get a few people meeting there, and those coming from the north can get off at 127th and Cicero and pick us up.
Jeff- Do you by any chance work at the Chicago Ridge Mall? Every time I go, I see a car like yours parked there.

i probably will be taking 294 as well. or maybe cicero avenue not sure yet. Depends on how much testing of my car is done...maybe i'll trailer it unless this weather can heat up and I can get going on this project....cold weather sucks.

hey 127 and cicero counds great, i live up on cicero and 90/94, but i can figure out myway down there, bout what time we looking to meet in the lot, early morn? late morn? give me an approximate time and i will try to be there. oh by the way, my bud wants to come too, but he migh take his 99 Ford Crown Vic, looks like a damn police car, messes with me all the time, but anyone mind of an "escort" down state? i should hopefully have this 88 iroc i will be getting shortly up and runnin, needs a new trans, but its a brand new motor, otherwise i will cruise with my bud, if no one minds.

Mettali.............since i'm right down the street on 153rd in Oak Forest right off of Cicero, meeting at 127th st would be a cool thing to do....
, but we should figure out and finalize if were going the 294 or Cicero ave route to Denny's house, I myself wouldnt want to be sitting in traffic on 294 waiting to get to the 394 Bishop Ford exit, It might be a whole lot cooler if we went down Cicero ave........as far as meeting in the Target Parking lot that sounds fine but maybe we should meet behind Portillo's Hotdogs in the Kmart lot which is alot bigger.....just a thought since everytime I go to Target their lot is packed and parking suks.....we still have some time to figure things out..........

I never saw a point in going down 294 since it takes just as long to get to denny's house. I mean I even tried I-57 from my house and got off at manhattan-monee road right by his house and it all took within 3 minutes of each other. Who knows...for my camaro I need to see how much "Seat time" I can get in before then to see if I will take 294, or cicero(slower speeds, etc) or if I will trailer the beast to denny's.

It doesn't matter to me which we take. I took 294 last year and both times I went to his house for parts and never got caught in any traffic though. If we actually get a big caravan going, we might get split up taking Cicero cause it has stop lights. Either way is fine with me though. I just hope we can get a good amount of people in on it.
I think we should take 294...it would be more fun, less traffic, and Cicero would take way too long. I went to his house last Saturday at about 2 on 294, and there was no back ups. I think we should meet at about 12, and leave about 12:30 once we are sure everyone is there.

Hey Metalli maybe we should ask Dirk if we can post a topic on all the boards so we can let every one know who lives up north to meet so we can cruise on down there. personally i think the expressway will be the best because we wouldnt get split up by lights and who has ever seen All American Muscle cruisin like they own the **** expressway? i think that will look sweet, we have a better chance of not geting messed with by state police and all those ryce burner boys will feel stupid cause no body likes an import.

I've mentioned the caravan in both the Midwest board and this board. When I said coming from the north, I didn't mean like from Minnesota or something. Just from northern parts of Illinois. I don't think theres anyone coming from that far.
im interested, i live about 5 min from archer and cicero, about 55th and cicero, i could meet you guys there, thats right by the movie theater right? crestwood? just keep me posted on times, i dont care which way we go either, as long as we get there. see ya

Yes, it is right by Crestwood theaters. If you wanted, you and I could meet with Jeff at Chicago Ridge Mall and cruise to Crestwood together.
that would work great, this way, instead of fighting traffic through ford city mall, i could swing down to harlem and take that to 95th. maybe we could grab a bite for lunch on the way, if not at the mall then koozy's. even though its a biker place, i love it there. no need for the lunch though, just a suggestion.

I won't be at the Hinsdale Oasis this year cause I'm coming from the other direction, so I have to pass the Oasis and then turn around and go back south in order to be on the right side. What time did you get there last year? We waited a half hour before we left. Anyway, if you're taking 294 S, you can get off at 95th and take it to the Chicago Ridge Mall (Only about a mile East of 294). Then we can either take 294 to 127th and Cicero or just take Cicero.
Yeah I don't like the Hinsdale oasis idea either. I suggested it last year, then I couldn't make it to the meet, but I was cruising around with a buddy shortly after that and we decided to go there to eat, thinking there was some sort of overpass to get to the other side and go back, but there wasn't, so we had to go north on 294 until we could find somewhere to turn around. This parking lot, or the mall lot would work out great because its a nice central location for most people, and for others, there are exits from 294 within a few blocks of both spots.

For you guys meeting at the mall, what time would that be, cause i have to pass the mall in order to get to 127 and would rather meet up with people sooner than later. i will be coming down 294 S so if i can get a time i will just meet you guys at the mall lot
Caravan
Guys,
Assuming I get my 91 Firebird up and running, I will be taking
it, if not I will be going with my buddy who has a 92 bird,
either way I will be attending the gathering.
I am totally in for a Caravan (as long as I finish the project):lala:
but I am live around Wrigley Field (up north)
So I will not be taking 294, but 94 to 394.
Sorry.
I am totally in for a Caravan from the northside
though, so far we have 3 cars....anyone else interested
PM me or email me

I dunno what time it would be, we'll work it out as the date gets closer. So far, heres the idea I like:
Me, jeff1367, 87TA305TPI, 91CamaroRS305 and SMURFN' Z28 can meet at Chicago Ridge Mall and then either take 294 to 127th and Cicero or take Cicero and meet up with xpndbl3 and chitowncruiser. That would make 7 of us, which isn't too bad, and we could take either Cicero or 294 to Denny's.
Maybe Andre will wanna be in too, haven't heard from him yet.

Mettali.............hey if you have guys coming from up northern illinois and the western burbs then they should get off at the 127th st exit and go to Portillo's.......since it will be the first thing they see going south on Cicero ave.....the parking lot across from Portillo's is big enough to meet at...since you are all coming from the Mall you should get together about 11:00 and meet us at Portillo's about 12:00....we can wait a few to see if any body else shows up and then jump on 294......I'd rather do the cruise on 294 then doing the stop and go drag going down Cicero ave....even though we still have time to finalize it ..tell me what you think.....chitown

That also works, chitown. If people are coming from the North and don't want to meet at the Chicago Ridge Mall, they can get off at 127th and Cicero and meet everyone there. So is this what we got so far?
Me, jeff1367, 87TA305TPI, 91CamaroRS305- Meeting at Chicago Ridge Mall, then going to meet the rest at 127th and Cicero
chitowncruiser, xpndbl3, and 92TPIZ28 meeting at 127th and Cicero.
SMURFN' Z28- ???

Mettali..........it seems to be coming together so far.........im gonna be at Portillo's across from the resturant at 12.00 noon that day in the parking lot.......so everyone who is coming down 294 and getting off at Cicero can meet at Portillo's.....much better place to show our rides off then Target..........

Ok guys, I PMed a bunch of people who are going to Denny's but haven't seen this thread yet so hopefully that will get some more interest. So far, redcamaro83 said he will meet us at Portillos too. Also, I won't be on the boards for a while cause I'll be in Orlando until Sunday the 16th so thats why you won't hear from me.
Edit- As of 12:15 AM, this is how it stands:
Meeting at Chicago Ridge Mall then driving to Portillos:
Me
jeff1367
87TA305TPI
91CamaroRS305
Meeting at Portillos:
xpndbl3
chitowncruiser
92TPIZ28
86NiteRider
SMURFN' Z28 is still unknown, but hopefully he'll join us. I also am still waiting to hear from 10 others I PMed about it. So far we have 8, possibly 9 which is about as many total at Denny's last year, so we're on a good pace.

He's alive, he just PMed me back to say he'll meet us at Portillos even though its out of his way.
This all seems to eb coming together pretty nicely. I may have a few more third gens with me, but not sure yet. Where would we meet in the mall parking lot? It can get pretty crowded, so I would say lets meet in the parking lot near sears, on 95th, next to Benigans....that should be kinda empty.

I am in. Just need to know when and where. why do these meeting points always get so complicated?
Metalli do you remember the one a few years ago in Naperville that turned into a 200 post discussion on where to meet?
Since I like driving my Camaro what's a few more blocks or miles. I'll meet wherever you guys want to.

i'll meet up with you guys and double back to denny's. My bud is up at St. Xavier at 103 st and pulaski. Depending on what time we go i might drag him along too, lol.
I go to St. Xavier! Does your friend have a Maroon and Grey T/A? There is a nice one I see there all the time with Indiana plates.
My friend got into an accident with his IROC, but he got some decent money out of it, so we may have a beautiful red 89 GTA 350 with us for the cruise! I'm going with him to look at it in a little while.

No, my friend has a beige 97-ish grand am. He's a pitcher for the baseball team. He lives in the newer apartment dorms, I think the one he's in is morris hall (the one that faces to the west).

Currently we have:
Meeting at Chicago Ridge Mall then driving to Portillos:
Me
jeff1367 (possibly 2 cars)
87TA305TPI (possibly 3 cars)
91CamaroRS305
Meeting at Portillos:
xpndbl3
chitowncruiser
92TPIZ28
86NiteRider
Slowmaro95 (possibly 2 cars)
Assuming everyone shows, we're looking at 9 to 13 cars. I'm still awaiting responses to PMs I've sent to about 5 other members and we haven't heard from SMRFN whether he wants in or not. Hopefully everyone actually shows up though.
