I am going to change springs this weekend and I need the new rubber spring isolators for the top of the spring...Can anyone give me the part number for these things? My local GM dealerships is run by idiots and can't seem to get me the correct parts, so I need to give them a part # to get what I want in. Thanks!

Thanks Scott, All I needed were the fronts.

 

The front uses 2 isolaters per side for a total of 4 right? One on top and one on bottom? We just got done putting the pro-kit on my car, and the front passenger side had one on the bottom, the front drivers side had one on the top. FrEaKy...

 

It shouldn't use one at the bottom, because it would cover the drain holes.

 

Correct, none on the bottom. Only the top, total of 2 needed.

Well you will probably have water pooling there then, which will cause rust at an accelerated pace lol.

How about the rear isolators? Any part number for those? I've heard that new rears raise the ride height a bit; is this true?

 

Yes! They will raise the *** end of the car a lot. I went back to my old ones, which are mostly steel, BTW, and ditched the new isolators I got. I'd keep the old ones if I were you. Since they're mostly steel, they don't wear out.

What about aftermarket parts? ES or Prothane make something for these that doesn't raise the car a foot?

 

I know ES was making a front isolator but I waited and waited for them to ship them to me, but that didn't happen so I went back to the stockers. I didn't see a listing for a rear one. They may have one by now tho.

Up from the dead ! I am doing the fronts and I think my isolators melted or dissolved or something.. They Arent there. question? If i order the front Isolators will they be thicker than the original, like the picture previous shows. I want the original dimension, so my car sits right.

 

No, the picture shown is of the rears. The fronts are just thin rubber, no steel like the rears, the fronts don't affect ride height.

 

THanks, i just went to the pontiac dealer and ordered 2 of them. 10 bucks each, only two left in a city 3 hours from here. Hopefully i get them tomorrow. I hate those people at the dealership, everytime i go there its something, THis time the lady was really crabby..she said they are insulators not isolators ! I liked to have to schlap her.

I guess I'm going to have to rent a spring compressor too, I have the a-arm dropped all the way down and its impossible to get a sportline sping in there indexed right between the holes. but turn the spring 180 and its no problem.

 

wat happens if u dont run those isulator either on the front or rear?
