The weather was great fpr me on the drive down on Saturday evening, and then on SUnday when I was coming back up but ... yeah it was pretty dull weather on Sunday at Billing.
A real mixed bag of thirdgen's though I thought... and a few really ropey ones.
However, a big thumbs up to everyone who made the effort.
I got photographs of a lot of the cars so I might get round to posting them later, I'll photoshop out the registrations first though of course.

Yeah-b****y cars.
I removed the gearbox to check for a bad clutch noise that made the clutch fork vibrate when it started. Just as I was under the car, the next door neighbour washed his van and all the water went right under my car and right under me when I was laying under there! Silly sod. Makes working under cars really enjoyable
Anyway, removed clutch release bearing but nothing obvious amiss. Apart from the middle sleeve running eccentrically within the outer sleeve. The garage that supplied the clutch said he didn't think that was the problem, and asked me to remove the clutch complete and the spigot bush. So I did and still saw nothing obviously wrong. I have ordered another release bearing for Thursday so we will see what we will see. I still think it's the release bearing. bear in mind that the clutch components have done 441 miles. *** knows what would happen if this car was used every day.
Here's a sad sight.
I'm hoping the car is running by the end of Friday. Keep you all informed.
Andy.

Dr G, not sure if we met? 80% of the thirdgens in this country are ropey (if not more) Yeah post the picture! Good to see finally a small thirdgen movement coming together over here, I find too many people regard our cars as stepping stones to greater things. (I posted a toipic reflecting this once) so just abuse them until they get something else. The thing they dom't know is that there are no greater things I spoke to quite a few people whom had sold their 3rd's only to regret it from that moment.. Lesson to be learnt!
Cheers,
Felix

greater things???
what could be greater than a 350 iroc or TTA????
good to see the TGO cars were some of the best thirdgens there
and yes, sadly there are a lot of ropey thirdgens, but it simply distinguishes the better cars as more unique!

ZZ,
Were you there on the Saturday? There were two white cars "like" yours parked in the middle of the field. I went Friday to talk to Harry Tune and agree the parking area for F-Bodies, weather fantastic, cars =15!! Went back on Saturday, as the weather forecast for Sunday was rain.....and it was bloody freezing. Then to top if off, Sunday turned out better than Saturday.
I'm second in from the right.
Were going to have a pucker F-Body section at the Summer Nats, banners, bunting, the lot.
Where's everybody going for the next shows? There are two in May I'm going to. A NASC meet at Drayton Manor, and the Classic American at Stratford raceway. Also looking forward this year to my first time down the strip. A local club I belong to has breathed life into a 79 Camaro, which we'll all be sharing.

BTW, I visited Andy Fanshawe last week and saw his show Camaro in the flesh........Well, lets just say "Fanstastic" for now, and hold back on "breathtaking", until it's finished....in...I'd say about 2012. Stunning work!

without seeing the wheels or interior, i cant recall if the red Camaro with silver GFX in the middle is the other Phil (EnglishZ28) or Irocfan.
I'm pretty sure its Phil.
Red 'vert next to that, (on the right) is Toby Bovingdon, northampton AAC rep, now sold.
BTW, Paul, cool shot. (and cool car, but then, that goes for all of them on the TGO area)

Hey Rob and Dr G. How come you never put anything under location? You ashamed to be British residence, or are you on some sort of top secret operation over here
Paul, disappointed to have missed you, I thought we all agreed that Sunday was the day- it is always the only day to really go to Billing. Besides there is no way I would have gone on the Sat as it was freezing. I felt sorry for all those that camped there.
Guys has anyone got some spares I could buy? I need the black plastic bit that goes between the mirror and the outer door skin as mine is cracked. I also need the clips that hold the door mechanism to the inside of the door on '87 or later models. (Earlier clips only had room for one bar) I also would love an alloy prop shaft.... Anyone have?
IROCFAN, are you on these boards? I remember seeing your car now I think about it having the engine rebuilt after only 3000 miles or something. It must have been just before you bought it...
Also is the guy with the Black IROC with Gold around as I remember your car too now- if I'm not mistaken it was a feature car in CA a few years back (which I still have) It is a real beauty!
Also I have given up trying to register on the AAC boards. I have tried 3 times now. I am staying put here!
Cheers all

lolwhat can I say? thanks for reminding me of my slight 'launch stance' englishz yeap you are correct the centre car red/silver is indeed me... was also a little dirty (ok a lot dirty) on Sat - Sun it was nice and clean... just as well for me i tend to ignore weather forecasts!!
Agree that the sledgehammer 'vette is a nice idea... but just think $400k would go a long way to making a 'maro pretty quick too have to admit that i am pretty much hooked on them now as a combination of price and performance i can't really see anything to beat them

Guys:
Do you not think that discussions like this are not best suited to an Appearance and Detailing Forum.... and that actually we would be best with a regional board on thirdgen.org especially considering that we seem to be increasing in numbers.
Has anyone mentioned this to one of the moderators or webmaster?

No, I'm not on a top secret operation. Don't be rediculous! I'm actually in hiding from the military.
During desert storm I was unimpressed by the action being taken by the west. I went out freelance and started doing the job the way the voices in my head ordered me to do it. Unfortunatley, command soon realized I was missing, found my handy work and set about bringing me down.
3 Years later I managed to escape from the metal box they were keeping me in out in Nevada. Made my way over here whre the law is more forgiving and wiling to turn the other cheek to my actions.
So in other words, basically, I never got around to putting my loction in.
Robert
P.S. I have too much spare time on my hands.
P.P.S. Under 4 weeks until the Classic American show. Time to start preparing boys!

I'm not from UK , but it's funny how people in europe have respect for our cars while here in the US it's the famous *******-white-trash-mobile. lol
sometimes I want to take my TA and move back home to CZ , LOL , at least cops there could never keep up

well I guess that one of the reasons for more 'respect' this side of the pond is the comparative rarity of f-bodies (in fact american cars in general) especially when compared to the ubiquitous BMW/VW/Audis or fairly common Porsches... also the dearth of large capacity engines makes sporty yanks with their low revving powerful engines a curiousity to most and a joy for the unenlightened
bear in mind our '******* cars' were ranging in size from 1.3litres (at one stage) to 3.1 litres - to those brits who remember them i'm talking about the ford capri... now we're chock full of **** rockets and wannabees...

That black plastic thing broke on my car when I got smacked. "Small tech article comming right up" : It's attached to the front window runner with rivets, so you'll need to remove the runner (3 bolts) from inside the door. The only pieces of door trim to remove are the top cap (bang with hand and lift), the arm rest, the hex screws on the door opener plate (don't **** up the false ones), and the front section of the door car snaps. "end of tech article."
and no I haven't got another one. I got it from Oldcott motors in Stoke.

LOL , you would think the weathermen would be the best in the World with our climate
Paul cheers for the tech article Never taken the door panels off, need to soon to waxoyl in there (rust on bottom of doors ) and lube the power lock and also solve any rattles- or at least try. Which are the fake hex screws then? Also that top panel is an away and up movement right?
Cheers

You must also, never, ever, ever, ever, slag anyone's car off. It's not allowed! So you have to either say nothing when someposts "what do you think?", or say things like "not for me, but hey it's yor car!"

If you look very carefully you can see what ones are the metal screws and what ones are the plastic fakes.
Also for the top strip of the door, push it away and up as you say. Take your time with it as you don't want to break the 3 clips. Also, you will swear at it a lot. This helps get them off.

that might change this year, but i have some pretty agressive speed bumps at work, an i am not a fan of grounding out.
Phil, I realised it was Patrick in that pic, just after i posted, but never got round to posting again! Being there over the whole weekend I remember meeting everyone, but tend to forget on which day.
hmm, an English board. "Limey Slime" perhaps.
As for the Capri's - I remember my first ever run down the strip, in my 1600 GL capri...... a blistering 21 secs. (age 17 at the time) I even attempted to do a burnout! (would only spin one wheel, at about 4 mph!)

Ah yes.......the Ford Capri
I've had two of em..........a 1.6LS and another 1.6LS with a 3.0 essex motor, stage 2 heads etc.. The 3.0 is the only car i've ever been nicked in ( I got pulled a lot more in the Capri than the Camaro! ) It was a wonderfull car, i sawed one of the tailpipes off at the rear valance so visually it was still a 1.6LS!! " Average of 99mph in a 50 zone, 3 points.......blah blah blah...sounds a bit throaty for a 1.6 sir....oh yes that'll be the K&N airfilter officer...snigger, snigger"
It spent more time in ditches than on the road...Bloody thing caught fire in the end ( Spitback through carb)....B****rd Fords.

Thanks Rob, need to get that sorted soon.
Boyd, greetings again, we spoke briefly via e-mail. This was during the time I spent running my site- before having a little one destroyed any free time I once had
Guys no word back yet from the powers above- I will keep you posted on the 'Limey Board' situation.
Cheers,
Felix
