I finally had the chance to polish my parts back up today
10 months of neglect and dirt roads left my plenum, and well the entire engine compartment filthy.

Looking good mike.
I've been planning to powdercoat a v6 intake. Of course, a coating can never shine like that.
You gotta teach me how to reach the small spots, I'm doing a set of valve covers for a friends dad, and the part around the bolt mounting holes and where the valve cover actually presses now, I can't get the wheel into. The 1/4" buffing felt bobs suck for me.
Any advice?

I cant really tell all my Polishinginc secrets but heres what I basically use:
Polishing wheels
Polishing compounds
Sanding rolls/drums: 180,320 grit straight and taper rolls
DA Paper: 180,320 6' disks
Agh its all so expensive but worth it :O

I would but I would have to remove everything and do my magic to it. I may in the future but not right now. Did a tune up to the motor too, purrs like a kitten and grunts like a hog because of the pass side exhaust leak
Soon to be fixed when my newer exhaust manifold comes in.

WOW, looks good man. How in the world do you get everything so smooth with sanding rolls/drums? Every time I use them on a corner or curve, I end up messing up the curves and flatting off the edges.
Have you ever tried sanding compound that you add to your buffing wheel? Like this from Eastwood Company: Item No. - 13132

I can sand pretty smooth in the tight areas as long as the dia of the sanding rolls are smaller than the area that I'm working on. Years practice helped out a bunch.
Yeah I use the compounds but they come in a bar form. Both ways use the same concept, grits in the compound to help polish better.

Absolutely amazing work! I need to learn how to do some of that to my engine bay. Great looking stuff. The before and afters just floored me.
You do good work. How much do you charge for polishing?

billsfirebird, heres a link to my pricing page http://www.polishinginc.com./pricing.html
'86-5.7L-IROC, thats the motor she came with. Once I build my 82 Targa Z28 with a LT4 the SC will go in the shop for a facelift and get a LT4 powerplant
All polished or Chromed{if I make enough money to buy chroming equiptment} engines of course.
Even thou she's a 6 polished parts make a Big difference.
SLP IROC-Z, I used black emery compound and white rouge compounds.
