Hawk's seat cover pics.....INSTALLED

...but not yet in the Iroc:lala:

OK, I just got these back from my upholstery guy this week, and hopefully they'll go in this weekend. They are intended to match my original medium beechwood interior. They look pretty da.mn close if you ask me. If I haven't said it enough, Bruce was GREAT to work with, and was a HUGE help in getting the colors correct. Thanks Bruce.

The fit is very good. It's a tad loose in areas(small of your back), even though they have been re-padded, but I doubt you'd ever notice, and to be honest, If the upholstery guy hadn't mentioned it, I may not have noticed either.

I have some super Hi-res pics to show fabric texture if anyone wants'em. Just gimme a PM.

Here's the only negative....and it's really no ones fault. My new interior is out of an 87. No shoulder strap provisions for the rear seats. No biggie, wasn't gonna put the belts in anyway. Unfortunately, the seatscovers have slits for the should strap bracket that came on the later models. No big deal, but I'm gonna have to find a tasteful way to sew it up...or something.

What?

Not sure where you're comin' from?

As far as color, they match my factory color almost perfectly! If you don't like the beechwood color, well, you are entitled to your opinion. The point is that if YOU need seatcovers, you can expect to match whatever color YOU chose, regardless of what the color is. I think most of you guys are NOT fans of the "biege/tan" colors. Fair is fair.

As far as quality, they are fantastic, and they look great.

Did I miss something?

Some people just don't understand the concept of manners.
Thanks for letting us know about the quality of hawk's seat covers.

Yeah that's exactly what I ment. I wouldnt have spent money on covers for the seats to STILL have that stock beige color. But if that's what you really wanted.. then sure, they look good in there!

Dispite all the people on the board who change their interiors over from that horrible red to black, I am KEEPING the stock "Flame red" interior color in our '91. It is so red and "loud" it screams "CAMARO" at you. And contrasts the white exterior so well.

My first camaro had flame red!

I just think that any color is better than grey. The only reason car companies use so much grey is because is goes with everything.

Why you guys don't like the beige is beyond me. None the less, I realize I'm in the minority.

A requirement for my Iroc when I bought it was NO GREY!!!

Regardless of your favorite color....talk to Bruce and he'll getcha hooked up!!!:hail:

Different strokes for different folks, thats all. Some just present there opinions in a more tactfull manner than others...

I think for OEM replacements, they look GREAT! I would perfer leather, however.

That's one really good reason about grey. You can basically paint the car any color under the sun and it will match. A grey interior looks nice IMO but then again I might be biased because my interior is grey I think the worst interior color was red, blah.

I like the look of them, and about the slits for the belt's, maybe the upholstery guy could have put a patch on from the back side while they were off, like the iron on ones that you patch jeans with and then you would never see it.

Hmmm, good thought on the back seat slit issue. I may have to try something like that.

As of this morning, all four seats are in. Pics coming soon. They're taken...but not yet downloaded. (not my camera).

The seats look real good. I was thinking of ordering my seats redone from Hawk's too. How long did it take to get them done?

I am just looking for grey insides and black outsides just like some of forth gen seats did.

Also I couldn't help notice if there was the word camaro imbroidered in them. I would be nice if they did that or add something like z28 or 25th anniversary. You know what I mean?

I must've come in on the show late as I'm a bit confused...

Did Hawks supply the material or did they do that plus the reuphostering? Or did you get the material from them and have the local shop make the seats? Reason why I ask is that my front 2 seats need to be recovered (the driver's side especially) so I've been trying to figure out how to do this since repro covers aren't available (that I know of).....

Thanks!

Edit- I just checked out Hawks- I see that they DO have repro covers They do mention them not being exactly like OEM, but from what you've said you can't tell the repros from OEM?

You think red is bad, the grey interior i swapped in was a gift from *** compared to the orange interior i had stock, it was acctually a brown orange and the carpets were nice enough to fade to a shade of pink heh

The seatcovers are from Hawk's. You can put them on yourself, but I chose to have them done by a professional. I wanted to make sure they were done right, plus I had them repadded. I HIGHLY recommend having it done by a pro, if for nothing else but to have them re-padded. They look AND FEEL like new seats, due to the padding.

The color matches my original medium beechwood VERY close, and the types of material is ALMOST exact. That said, no, they are not absolutely perfect OE matches. I'm 100% satisfied none the less. Keep in mind that the "beige" and "tan" colors are going to be the hardest to match. Greys and blacks should be easy.

No, they do not have the "camaro" embroidered. I looked into having it done, but no place I talked to was willing to replace my covers if something should go wrong. They only embroid their material. I understand that though. I work at a sign shop, and we don't make signs unless it's on OUR material. Same thing I guess.

4 seats and 1 doorpanel are in. Pics comin' soon.....

Hmm..... I've got what I believe is the light grey interior- I think. I'll double-check the code to be sure.... I'll get in touch with Hawk to see if they can offer swatches of the material they would use for my seats so I can see for myself how close it would be.

Thanks!

Bruce happened to have a car he was selling that had the medium beechwood interior. He took samples out to his car and matched them up.

You could always send a swatch of your material to him, right?

Chris,

If you don't mind me asking, what should I expect to pay to have my seats repadded and reupholsterd(?spelling?).

What I mean is, how much did you pay?

Thanks...

True- I can do that too if it'd be easier for them. However since sun and time have taken their toll on my seats they may not be their exact original color anymore. But then again we're not talking exact color here, either...

BTW if I do call Hawk them I take it Bruce is the one I would want to talk to on this?

Man those are ugly seats.....JK they look great. Yall were asking about difference from stock and it looks to me like they have different stitching with smaller thread and both of the different cloth materials seem to be fluffier, but I like them im sure there real comfortable. As for them not matching the color exactly I wouldnt worry about it, I put dark grey 4th gen seats in my med gray interior and they dont match exact but it doesnt bother me at all even tho im picky. The seats that were stock were actually kinda light blue tinted even tho its grey interior. Still looked good tho. Lets see some pics of those in your car man!

As far as price is concerned...installing the covers and the re-padding cost $300.

...and here's a pic of my carpet and new deluxe interior panels.

The quality is EXCELLENT, the pics really help too... I always wanted to see how they hawks cover fit.

A question though, how hard/easy were they to install? Do they go over your existing stock seats? And if you don't mind, how much did they run you?

Thanks again for this topic and the pics!!

Oh never mind I just found the rest of this thread when I posted, damn netscape...

You bought the carpeted plastic pannels from Hawks also? Did you just get the carpet pieces, or the covered pannels?

I got the carpeted interior panels from IrocZdave about a year ago. They came that way from the factory.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Wishmaster, - No back seatbelts for me. The new interior panels didn't have provisions for the shoulder strap since they were from an 87 LT. Someday I'll get around to getting the proper seatbelts, but for now, it's not really a priority. Good catch though.
