questions/
1/ when i put the clear on will my pearl orange be more reflective, its not as pearly as i thought, is that just the dark orange color, i used the white basecoat they recomened to bring out the color, more,

As for color combo, I think a deep blue bird kinda fading to purple on the edges would look good on a black car.

somone posted a 2ncd gen bird decal one day on this site, i just used that and drew it up to scale on my car, and changed and added a few things, hence wings down the door and all,

ok you guys might think im crazy if not allready, but here was my orginial concept of what i wanted to do, the colors i wanted to use, butttttt, the orange didnt turn out like i though, so im not sure what to do, i want something bright, something insane, this is not a daily driver car

lol, no its a quick photoshop picture, just showing the colors scheme i was thinking about

its deffiantly bright , actually i got that color scheme off a bike i saw, it was just jaw dropping bad azz, but dont know if it could be pulled off on a car, i could allways just do some highlight purple on the bird, and then finish the car off with a pearl oarnge of some type, sunset, or tangelo, pearl, but something about that green keeps cacthing my eye, , alot of people are doing the orange thing now so ,

alllso keep in mind that the bird isnt totaly outlined, since you can see black under the white base, when i tape back off the bird, and sand down to lvl, and repaint my base, the bird edges will be in more detail,

wow... i admire your painting talents.

i would like to point out one thing that struck me, though: the fact that you have a big solid bird in the middle and not too many "feathers" surrounding it compared to second gen t/a's. it seems not to match to me... maybe if you added some more detail into the solid bird. if you notice on second gen transams, the bird itself was smaller in proportion to the rest of the "feathers" coming off of it.. and i guess i'm just used to that. just my .02, i'd like to hear your opinion.

awesome picture, that one is going in my folder, , yeah i have looked at my 1:18 model, of the same car i have, but here is the picture i used, , well i kinda noticed that to, but then i said hell, some of the feathers are not exactly even to, but its allso all done by hand, wasnt the most easyest job to acomplish, but thats no excuse , so i have one other ideal in mind to fix the problem, but i need to get my airbrush working again, to do it,

Yeah, I like the idea, but the bird looks like he's got a big beer gut. And a tiny head. I'm sure when you get it done it'll look cool.

I like it, but I think it takes too much away from the Ram-Air hood. And I like how it rolls down on to the doors. Nice work.

Joe.

I think its an excellent idea. I would like to do something very similar, but a bit different. I think the bird looks a bit deformed though, too small of a head. When you're done, I'm sure it'll look nice. Good luck with it.

wow thanks guys for all the great opinions good or bad, i wanted some feedback,

yeah i have noticed the head being a bit small, and the body a bit, big, in one way i kinda made the body big to fill in the ram air hood, , its hard to get that thing on the that hood and make it decent, i think the placement i got down is decent just i need to revamp, and go back to the drawling board

as far as taking away from the ramair hood i kinda wanted to, i think its the coolest hood for 3rd gen birds, hence why i bought it, but i will admit the design is a bit to narrow, the designers could have spread out the nostoral a bit, so, i did want to kinda have a balance of the hood and bird, ,

but in any case it does need more work on the body and head, and it allso needs way way more detail, not enough for me, , i nerver get the detail david culpeper has in his car, thats just insanely nice work, but i want to balance between his car, and what i have now, ( or atleast try )

as far as messing up this and that, hell its all in good fun, only one way in learning how to paint, is jump right in, , just this house of color paint is killing me, in one way its very easy to lay down, but in the clean up process its a totally bitc!
i must be doing something wrong, !

i admire your efforts, looks real good...

yeah i think the chest is too big and the head is too small as well... but it doesn't look that bad...

idea of the wings coming down the fender is great...

but the color man, why maroon? omg you could pick any color, a shade of dark metallic blue would look awesome!

i was alwyas told stick with in the same family products. Keep it all HOK... primer, base, pearls, kanys, thiners, reducers, etc..

Im sure you have a HOK catalog with all the products.

and Damm 2week wait for HOK paints suck... I have a shop local that has 90% of all their products in stock..

If you need something on the fly let me know. I can pick it up and ship it to ya.

Looks awesome man, nice work! Got any pics taken from farther away?

90firebird, I always loved the 70-73 'Birds/Trans Ams...especially with the awesome screaming chicken on the hood! A blue/black firebird on a white car looks really good too...

i woudnt charge anything becuase i woudnt attempt that for anyone else lol, lot and lot of workkkk, plus i dont or woudnt think anyone would be happy with my work, its not as good as it looks in the pictures, i guess,

anyhow however i was thinking of maybe making, a template, and get a pattern made up for anyone who wanted to try the same thing, , i would love to see how people would do it diffrent, and all, maybe when i get the car finished painting and i get the clear on, i will go back dig out my traceing paper again, and trace it,

dreamstate, + a solid black bird would look killer on that bright red car, or atleast i think

yep

Thats what I was thinking, that or white, now I need to find a shop that would strip my clearcoat and airbrush one on there for me and re-clear it again... I would also like to get the transam(you know, all the spot on the car where it says transam) airbrushed on there with more of a cursuve writting...

would you mind if I used a picture of your car just to show them the basic layout and style im looking for... Definitly send me a pic when you done, looks great.. post it on here or send it to me at DreamState20x@hotmail.com if you could.. Thanks and keep up the good work..

hey firebird7777, i think what you did with the snake is great! i think it is a big improvement... it brings the birds head in better proportion with its body. great job, man. cant wait to see it when its done!

one suggestion, though. if it is possible, try to align the head and tail of the snake to the shape of the original bird's tail feathers, that way it will seem like a shadow or something.... i dunno how to explain it, but it would seem like a cleaner design as opposed to conflicting lines. once again, nice work!

yeah i noticed that to, its funny i dont really notice these things till i post and see the picture up on the site, then i realize what needs work,

i changed the head tonight , made it more 3d to macth the claws, only problem is when i go into the 3d realm the tape stops, and i going to have to do a bit more with the airbrush ,

i do believe im going to put flames over the nose and bottom hood, just so the tips of the flames interweave in with the bird, in the picture you fan kinda see what im talking about, , with the flames i can blend them in with the bird, ,intereweave, , so when done it will look like flames and underneath and over, and into the bird ,

im still haveing a hard time on color options, i just cant decide on what colors, basically breaks down like this
1/ bird- atleast two shades of color
2/ flames- atleast two shades of color
3/ car body - one color,

so what looks good in color combo, from start to finish, using , some cool colors, orange, purple, yellow, green,

i want a hotrod type paint job but i dont want people to think im driving a easter egg

here are some combos i was thinking of
1/ flames - darker green , bird- purple, car - pagen green, kandy color,
2/ flames- yellow , bird-orange, car yellow
3/ flames- yellow , bird-purple , car orange,
4/ flames- orange, bird- purple , car yellow

as you can see im stuck, on what to decide, ?//

i'd play around with the hok paints more but the smallest they sell is a quart at a time, and thats 50bucks a shot,

anyone know any good websites, for enamal , car airburshing paint, ? i usally go through eastwoods for enamal i can get in a few days, but they have a limited color selection, and its hard to choose colors, becuase you just cant see what they really look like, example hok ultra orange pearl my azzzzzzzzzzzz,
