LG4 CC Q-jet idle problem

Hey I have an 82 Trans Am with an open element. I've got a problem with the idle. When the car is warm(190), I turn the motor off, then turn it back on again in 10 minutes. Before I shut it off the idle is at 1,100. When I turn the car back on the idle is at 500.

If I lower the idle it will be impossible to keep the car running after startup.

What do I do?

It sounds like your choke is sticking. After your car has warmed up take off the air cleaner and see if your choke blade is fully open or starting to close a little. It sounds like its closing a bit and may need adjustment.

I've been told either choke or throttle blades. I'm gonna spray the carb with carb cleaner tomorrow morning. I would do it now but you says do not use when engine is hot.

Are you starting it cold and then letting it warm up and shutting it off or is this after driving?

This is after driving for an hour and the motor is warm.
