Looks good... Where did you get it from or did you build it yourself? What parts are in it?

I did want to build it myself but decided to just buy a shortblock from Wheeler Motorsports. As far as the parts that are in it..there's a crank, some pistons, rods, bearings and a cam, lol. But seriously though, it has what they call a "Wheeler Crank" which is an overseas nodular iron crank that is supposed to be rated to 600hp...forged I-beam rods and forged Prode flattop pistons.

Sounds like a stout short block. What's the rest of the buildup going to be (heads, intake, CR, etc.)?

The heads are gonna be a set of 200cc Pro Topline with either 10.0 or 10.9:1 compression depending on which cc chamber head I get. The cam is a GM Performance parts cam that has 234/242 duration @.050 and .539/.558 lift (it think they got that grind from Crane cams) And the intake is gonna be a Holley Stealth Ram with 30lbs/hr injectors. I'm hoping to make ~450hp and ~500ft/lbs, what do you guys think?

Sounds like you should be right around 475 hp, maybe a bit more. Those heads flow good and that cam will make lots of power. Should be good for mid - high 11's if you can get traction...

Well traction is gonna definately be a problem. But I just usually think of the old hotroder's cliche....if your ever gonna have problems with your car..traction is the best one to have. I have absolutlely no rear suspension mods as of right now and don't have plans for any in the near future since I have about $8000 in the motor and new T56 setup that's going in with the new motor. But one thing that I do plan on doing right after I get the motor and trans in is to switch the rear end setup from the current 2.73 open to a 3.73 or 4.10 posi. Other then that, I'll probably been done for awhile.

With that 2.73 open rear you wouldn't have any traction, at least with the 3.73/4.10's and a posi you'll be able to get moving while spinning the tires. What diff are you going to go with? Eaton, Auburn, Detroit?

I haven't decided which one I'm gonna go with yet.

Wheeler Block

I have seen that short block before.....did you buy it off Ebay?????
I have seen one listed there and if that is the same one you have, and it is reasonably priced, I am thinking about grabbing me one. Definitely tell us how it runs and surely how it holds up to a little abuse! Questions: one or two piece rear seal, and do you know if it is a roller block or not????
Good luck on your buildup!

It is a one peice rear main seal. And yes it is a roller block, if you look closely at the first pic posted, you'll noticed the bosses for the lifter guide retainer.

Go with the eaton posi unit...its far better than an auburn or zexel torsens that others use. Trust me I just went through that with mine. A close friend of mine who happens to have years of experience and a sound reputation for building quality rearends for everything from 12 second streetcars to 7 second strip cars say thats the ticket if your gonna stick with the stock 10 bolt.
