Setting timing
Well, I just changed heads, and got the distributor back in. Now I dont know if it is in the correct spot or what. I did not crank the engine or mess with the crank in any way while distributor was out. But I think the timing is going to be really off due to the fact that the rotor moved around and is in some random spot. How do I go about getting the timing in the correct position, If i recall, it's something to do with putting the rotor on #1 plug, while #1 cylinder (front/drivers side i think) is at the top?
Please be as detailed as possible, as I am a novice when it comes to timing. I do not have a timing light, but I should be able to get it running without one ?
Thanks.

#1 to TDC on compression stroke then set rotor to point at #1 terminal on cap. fire engine, set timing with light. check your manual for correct way to set timing and what to set it to since you never said what you have. if you're close now all you may have to do is set it with a light.

Okay, I have the distributor all hooked up, and put my finger on #1 wire while turning the engine, I got the "poof" of air when I released and balancer was at 0. I then put the distributor in with rotor pointing in the 1-2 wire area (wouldnt go down in any other position, this is the only spot where it would go down completely). So I adjusted the distributor a little bit to take care of this, and tried starting. No start, seems like no spark, just cranks. I adjust it several times in both directions and still no start. I do not know what to do, I made sure it was at TDC (Compression stroke) and lined up rotor, then adjusted distributor to the extreme's a few times and still nothing.
Any suggestions?
