700R4 Shifting

My car shifts out of 1st gear wayyyyy too early. Almost the second I get on the gas from a stop it goes right into 2nd, and bogs the car. In my 69 Cougar, I could just adjust the vacuum module on the tranny and it would shift at redline if I wanted it to. Is there a simple way of doing that with this tranny?

Thanks

Chris

There is a cable (TV cable) on the side of the throttle body that can be adjusted. If it is loose it will shift too early and soft. If it is too tight it will shift later and firmer.

Thanks!! I looked at the TB and sure enough, they all seem loose, but there are three (Im guessing the TV cable, CC, and throttle), which one is the TV cable? And, how do I adjust it?

Thanks!!

Yeah, does anyone know which one is the right cable, and where the little d button is to adjust it?

Thanks!

The throttle cable is extremely easy to identify so you can eliminate that one by pressing the gas pedal.
The TV cable comes through a black housing with a square button on the side.

joshwilson3: the one being installed is the TV cable. The one in place is the throttle cable. The missing one is the cruise control cable.

cmpcpro: sounds good!
