custom box for the well
ok, i don't want a box that sits flush with the hatch area. i want to make it down in the well area so it sits on the ledges in the well. i'm only putting one 12. maybe 2 down the road but one for now. so does ANYBODY have this kind of box and if u do can u tell me the dimensions. here's a pic of what i'm talking about.

no real dimentions...other than the bottoms fiberglass...only the top is MDF...you can make those dimentions yourself ....depending on how far down in the well you want or need to go

Looks like a good idea. I built a box for a pair of pioneer tens using about that same design cept i made mine outside of the car. Want the easiest thing to put in, but even harder to get out. Doesnt take up much room, and would be a b!tch to steal

ok i just finished my mock up of the real box and took some pics. and (if my calculations r right) i have 1.49 ft^3 with the notches and not including the displacement of the sub
. it's almost perfect for the E12O sub i'm getting.

the entire thing is the box, i just didn't have time to put the sides all the way around, i'm sure u can get the idea of it. and the notches r for the areas that stick out in the back. i have them ponited out in one of the other pics. i'll get a pic of everything in the car tomorrow and mark where the sub and amp will be and u'll have a better idea of how it's gona fit in the car. then i'll be getting some MDF after xmas bcuz eveything is so crazy right now and don't have time. like i sed b4, this is my first box and need some tips on putting the box together. like what glue or screws or nails.

the fit is perfect, i mean it takes 2 or 3 people just to put it in, one to hold the back plastic piece and one or two others to get the box in. once everything is back in place NOone can tek it out.
once more, anyone got any tips on how to make the box?

Looks like an awesome idea. The best wood you cud get would be MDF. Medium Density Fiberboard I think it is. You should be able to get it at home depot or something. Ive got 2 12s in my hatch it sounds good. As you said it would be a bitch to steal for deff. 1 person. Which Im thankful for dat!.

About the volume of your box:
When you make it out of MDF are you going to loose some indie volume because the MDF is thicker than cardboard, or does you volume of 1.49 take into account for that.
