anyone made their own fiberglass (or other material parts) like spoilers

anyone ever tried to make their own spoiler like the 5 incher out of some kinda stiff cardbord and fiberglass bondo. i know it sounds ******* (sorry for any offense diddnt know what else to term it) but i was currious if anyone tried.

or what if i took the stock 3 piece spoiler and built on that?

just thought i would raise a discussion about creating things

if anyone wants to mention any other parts they have tried to make please do.

Revlimit made his own fiberglass extensions on the GFX, both the front lip and the sideskirts. Not sure how he did it though, but maybe you can PM him. and I think Guido from the power adder forums made his own wing out of aluminum, but not sure if it was built on top of the stock RS spoiler, or from scratch.

I haven't yet, but i've looked into it a bit. From what I've seen, I'm wondering if there are any materials that would be easier to work with than fiberglass. Like say for a spoiler after creating a mold out of plaster, are there any plastics that could be used that wouldn't have the tendency to warp and have the waviness that fiberglass does? ABS maybe? Fiberglass seems to be by far the most popular do-it-yourself or custom product material out there now but I know that OEMs tend to use plastics these days.

Its not a built spoiler per se, but the guy who painted my car a few years ago used duraglass (i think) to mold the three-piece Z28 spoiler into the car. Didn't really change the appearance of the car at all, but cleans up the look in the rear. I haven't come across any other cars that had anything like this done.

Heh, yeah I never really thought that much about it when he was doing it. It was a friend of my Dad's and he just went ahead and did it when he painted the car- we didnt even ask him to do it or suggest it. But he owns a thirdgen 'bird, so I think he enjoyed painting the car and took his time

6 years later- no cracks and NO door dings!
