WOAH! I have a shipping hookup from Japan. Guy I know runs a shop that brings in 2 Matson Containers a month of JDM parts from Japan. I'm sure he could slip a few hoods in there for cheap. Those hoods are tight ... $1400 is a little steep but I'd go for it. Lemme ask him and see what he says. You guys will still have to pay regular shipping from Hawaii, but at least you'd get a deal on 1/2 the distance. I also have friends that speak Japanese, I'll ask them to call and get more info. What was the name of the Company?

Anyone notice the striking similarity between the vents on the side of that hood and the vents on my fenders???
Someone could probablly build a replica of that hood using the mold from the same vents as mine

Here ya go, right from them: Dear Bran.
We will be able to ship out ( 10sets of ) our products at the end of February.
The price will be $1480.00 a S&H fee will be charged if you order from other than the state of California.
You can order our products on E-Mail, so please check our E-Mail grace@grace-co.co.jp
We will give you notice two weeks before shipment.
Thank you
Gotou.
Dear Bryan
Although it is the affair of the carbon hood of your question,
the$1200.00 mailing cost of a price is $1000.00 in airtransport.
Although a problem is in a mailling cost now for a mailling cost cheaper than now next year.
Or if there are ten collected orders,I will think that a mailling cost becomes cheap.
Our Ducted carbon hoods are the quality goods which have not been seen until now.
If many American people can have and get interest on this carbon United States.
If you please, please transmit this carbon hood to many persons.
Because,it is for lowering the price in the United Stetas.
I am sorry to be poor English.
thank you Gotou

I believe this was posted in the other thread too. If this was to happen, there would be no deadbeats! The only way i would go about it is if someone set it up, had a set price in writing(like a contract), and people would pay a non-refundable deposit to ensure no deadbeats! People who play games are rediculous! Anyway, that deposit would go towards the hood. Sound like a plan? I think there is only one guy interested, correct me if i am wrong. Put up or shut up is the way to go with these group purchases. Only way it will work correctly IMO, learned through past experience. later guys

Oh yeah, if you couldn't tell from Gotou's broken English, they want $2200 for a single hood shipped, and what i believe to be a price of $1480 shipped per hood if 10 hoods are ordered. That is the price for 10 shipped to California though, so with me being in NJ, i would have to add on shipping charges from CA to NJ! Get it? Or no? So we need a contact in CA preferably to get this done, or someone with a really good contact over in Japan to be able to ship out these hoods for cheap!

Man, if it was that price for one hood, i would probally be all over it! I just can not justify spending $2200+ on a hood that i have never seen in person. Their whole price just blows my mind. I mean, who knows what the fit is like, what type of quality they are, how long the finish lasts on them. Stuff like that. I don't even like to think about spending $1500 on one. Like it would ever happen anyway, but thats not the point. All i can tell from the pictures is that it is a solid piece and it seems like they truely care about the apperance of the hoods b/c they have pretty much all of the body lines on the front end line up with the hood. The ducts look to be very nicely done as well. If the underside is finished like the top, then yeah, the price becomes a little more understandable! Also, if they wanted to make a nice profit on the hood, they would lower the prices for here in the states. C'mon, how many can you possible sell over there? Not everyone who owns a thirdgen in Japan is looking to make a race car out of it like they do! Also, the lower the price here, i am sure the more they will get sold. Thats just how i see it. Too bad someone can't take this project on here in the states!

Why not just buy another 3rd Gen with the price of ONE of those hoods? What a waste of $$.
That's just my opinion though

actually those are standard 91-92 grid style tail lights.
they just have some clear plastic tape on them, because these guys are at a auto-x event.
see, here is the whole picture, look at the other car.

Nice looking hood, but the smaller vents do look like the fender vents on a '80 Z/28, like Flynlow92 mentioned.
Only probelm I see with that hood is rain... that would let so much water in that you could never drive the car in the wet

Jesus, lets stick with one thread b/c stuff is being repeated like crazy! Not that i mind, but it accomplishes nothing really. There are like 3-4 threads about this very same hood and the same stuff is being mentioned. Not getting on anyone here specifically, so don't take this post personal! Consider it a post like, well..., like a "that hood looks like ****" post. Don't pay any real attenton to it! lol Ah waht do i care, there is no way 10 people would stick to their guns on this GP. No way in Hell.

You may have better luck contacting several custom shops in your area or around the United States.....
You can have someone do it.......As mentioned, where there is a will there is a way......
Good Luck with it......:lala:
I'm thinking about it. Since I have a hookup shipping will be very cheap. But I dunno about spending over $1000 on a hood. I'm gonna have my friends that speaks Japanese give them a call and see if they can make one without the side vents (just the middle vent). Or maybe they might make a fiberglass version ... I really dig the inverted cowl ...
yah well the **** comment was only cause I see that same style hood on almost every import here with a erector set spoiler and 12 inch exhaust tip
I just think it costs too much mainly. But hey that was only my opinion, which true, doesn't really accomplish much hehe.
cheers!

That hood is AWESOME. If we could get a group buy together........ Although, for $1000 shipping, it'd be cheaper to buy a boat and go get the damn things ourselves.
the defination of **** burrotos is something thats is on a car but not functional, something for show but not for go, and it doesnt have to be on a civic to be ****.... so dont mistake a whats probably a 10 lbshood, functional to the point that cutout will serve as a heaat extractor. if you dont know anything bout it dont knock it.
if 9 more people are down and crazy can come thru... ill definately be down but not untill we have 9 people that wont back out at the last minuet.... if we can get 9 guys ill be down definately in 2-3 weeks

Why don't they try and contract with a company like ASCD or Wings West, etc.? Somebody that could distribute them in the US. Who knows, maybe they could make a second set of molds and sell them to a company over here.
Those are nice hoods, but I too think the cost will prevent many from being sold.

what about the hood on the car in the background, that looks different than any hood Ive ever seen also, with the 2 cutouts around the top. Anyone else see this?, also about the tail-lights they are just plastic coverings b/c u can see the bubbles formed in them.

That hood is just a flat Iroc/Z28 hood with holes cut out at the top of the hood louvers/blisters! And yes, it should be a carbon fiber version. Also, the whole tail light issue has been discussed before.....in this thread. Read above, its tape for Auto-X races. It was also talked about in the other threads containg this hood.

Is that an el camino front end? That car is definately unique, not my style, but unique. I guess it passes for the "drifting" look! And yes, i am sure that revese cowl could be achieved with some simple hand tools and possibly a cut off wheel. I wonder what it would look like finished with paint and some clear coat?
That pic is Revlimits car back in 2001. Revlimit bought a damaged R34 front lip from his friend for cheap, cut it up, and molded it into the stock front end. Unfortunately he did not finish the front lip (notice the missing middle portions) before the photoshoot or taking it to the drift events. Eventually the front lip was damaged, and since then he has done two different front lips. He's also running a different hood now (he made cutouts for an open element). He did make that original hood (inverted cowl) by hand. He's not running that wing anymore, different wheels, pretty much different everything. Look for some pics around May when he is done swapping shells ...
