Lost a fight with an F250....
Well, I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, so here it is! Happened yesterday (04/21/04) at about 3:45pm on the US 60 in Gilbert. I was just driving along going about 70 (traffic was moderatly heavy) and ended up in the blindspot of a BRAND NEW F250 Deisel. Thing was off-road modded with a good 6-8" lift and 33" rubber, so to say the least it was a big truck. Well, he decided to change lanes and didn't bother to CHECK HIS BLINDSPOT!!! He said he didn't even know I was there until he saw the smoke coming from my tires when I locked up my breaks. There was another truck running even with me on my left so I had no choice but to try and break out of it but his back left tire came right into my front right fender. Got all his info and stuff, and he knows he 100% at fault, so no harm there, but MY POOR CAR GOT HURTED!!! We did work out though, if I can find someone locally (hint hint Sebastian or anyone else on here) that could do the repair work for a decent amount of $$ I wouldn't go through insurance. He liked that idea, so yeah, any takers?!

Yup, thats why No, no damage to hood, only thing that needs replacing is the front right quarter panel and the nose needs sanding/repainting. And yeah, I have ALL his info, DL#, insurance info, address, phone #, I wasn't stupid on this one for once

I understand your reasons for not getting the Police involved, but do NOT do this "on the side." You have his information, make a claim, take it to a body shop and get it repaired correctly. You could have tweaked the front subframe and even though Sebastian does great work, I doubt he has the equipment to straighten the frame.
There is more than $3000 in damage there and if you go to a shop that does good paint matching you'll get the nose and hood all repainted on this guy's tab. I had a guy back into the T/A just after I got it and that's how much it cost to get my little dent fixed.
Besides, then you can get a rental car while they fix it...

And this folks, is reason #1,259 why I will never live in phoenix In just about every single trip I've made up to phoenix I've either witnessed a MAJOR highway accident in progress or have been in the traffic jam created in the aftermath of one. STOP ****ING SPEEDING PHOENIX PEOPLE!! STOP CHANGING LANES WITHOUT USING A SIGNAL!! STOP PASSING ON THE RIGHT LEARN HOW TO ****ING DRIVE!!! Jesuz, do people realize that going 20 mph over the speed limit only gets you where you going like 1 or 2 full minutes faster??
sucks about your car.

Ya know the funny thing is that those of us who drive thirdgens and performance type cars with money invested into them are usually the safer, better drivers, and the Mom's, punk's driving SUV's, beat up mini trucks and fart canned imports are they ones that are ripping up the highways like its cannonball run 2000 every day of the week.

*A* new tire? Dude.. you never get *A* new tire.. you at least get two. You don't want mismatched tread because of one tire being replaced.. always do it in pairs... especially when it's someone else's fault that you're doing it at all.
Very unfortunate

Sorry to hear it Bruce;
Guess you cant call your car a original 1/2000 or whatever stat you always say gun metal grey camaros anymore eh? :-) I got hit on the passanger door by some hit an run lady whiel i was in AMPM. Took my insurance like 3 weeks just to get it into the shop and get things rolling. Also, i agree with chris, that you shouldn't let sabastion handle it. Hes damn good, but its not going to be a cheap fix. you know that LITTLE damn dent/paint scratch on my driver side fender?- $1,400 to fix it. and it is just a tiny *** dent and paint chip. sigh, they screw you over. so let his insurance do it, plus if the body shop that does it is anything like impact auto body, they will "blend" the hole side of the car and the hood :-) good luck

wow, sorry to hear that Bruce!
I do have to agree though, Phoenix drivers are pretty bad My roommate and I got t-boned by some guy who ran through a red light (it had been red for over 10 seconds, at least) in a huge intersection (Dunlap and I-17 in Phoenix). Totaled the car, but the worst part about it is the other driver claims he had a green light... he's a "business man" and we are two "college kids", nothing was settled There is alot more to it, but I won't flood your thread with it. maybe sometime when we have a "feking bad drivers" thread or something.
Now my roommate and I are stuck getting around in my camaro, which isn't really suited for daily driving, it's more of a "project car".

You have all of the guys info right? His DL# and plate and VIN?. The same thing happened to me about 6 months ago when a little old lady smacked into my rear wheel square.
We didn't wait for the police, but I got all her info and made the call. They paid for it all. All body and paint work was done by a Chevy dealership as well. Can't complain about that.
And the rental car was paid for too.
Do yourself that little favor. Call ASAP...

you know whats crazy now that I think about it?
I never even had an adjuster to meet with. They told me to take it to a dealership, I just had to tell them which one. They made the appt and arranged for the rental without even seeing my car.
I think it was Allstate insurance that she had. If it is Allstate insurance this guy is covered under, I know they send to the dealership..

When an SUV here at work backed into the drivers fender on my car the dent rolled into the top of the fender. It was a really small dent and the guy that hit me said he would take care of it on the side as well. The total amount came to just over $3000 and they did NOT replace my fender. A body shop will replace your fender and possibly your inner fender/wheel well as well. Paint and prep the hood, nose and possibly even paint through the door into the rear 1/4 panel as well. If your tire or wheel is messed up add that on top of the rest of it. Long and short this is not a small deal.
While my car was in the shop I went ahead and bought a new nose and had them install and paint it instead of messing around with the old chipped up and cracked nose.
The thing is, if you get a really good estimate and Sebastian can help you out, you are that much ahead...wink wink nudge nudge...

ouch.....
that really is no fun. I've almost had that happen to me a number of times, people just don't pay attention, and don't care.
And yeah, i wouldn't generalize that that all phoenix drivers are bad, its just that some peoples IQ's are smaller than their shoe size, then give them a cell phone, and a 6000lb SUV
But either way, hopfully the insurance company treats you alright, get that puppy fixed

Wow, so much love! I've JUST got off the phone with the claims guy (and yes, it IS Allstate!!) and he said they are taking 100% liability for all the damages. They also gave me the green light to take it to Chapman Chevrolet on Baseline/McClintock to get the repairs done!! My apointment for the estimate is on Wed. and they said they would be cutting me a check right then and there for the damages. They also said that if it turns out to be even more expensive then they thought they'd write me another check!
I'm actually excited about this now! This means I'm getting the nose of my car repainted as well, and if you've seen my car in person (or even checked out my website) you'll have seen that it needed some TLC. As far as the frame/subframes/ect. I didn't see anything wrong. Car drives just as well as it did when I got it, so no harm there. Anywho, I'll keep everyone updated, and THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!

Hey Bruce, not trying to burst your bubble but I seriously doubt they'll be actually cutting you a check personally. They've got contracts with the dealerships to do factory quality work. So Chapman will most likely be dealing with them on all billing. They'll just take yer car and send you over to the in-store rental car company. They'll give you an economy type car..I know, it sucks.. I tried for something better but I woulda had to pay. Nope. Not this time.
You'll drop off your car and then they'll call ya when ready. It's pretty simple. No checks though.. It was nice of him to tell you that though!

*EDIT* Ohh yeah, they DID cut me check right then and there...They said if damages turn out to be more than that then Chapman will just bill them...

*UPDATE*
Car was taken into the shop today to get the repairs underway. They gave me an 04' Neon for a rental car. Funny thing is, it's metallic grey...
