I definetley like the ideas, but I've hardly ever seen another thirdgen north of sacramento that I'm beginning to think I'm one of the only one's left around here.

hey guys, im located close to sac, and work as a graphic designer. I've got connections for stickers, shirts, caps . . .whatever you can think of to put a logo on.

Reading this post I've started sketching a few ideas with a simple but 'fast, strong - looking' typeface, not too unlike that used for the 'Z-28' logo. I'll post them as soon as im satisfied (which may be awhile. . . ) but, if anyones got ideas, thoughts, or suggestions -- fire away !

well, heres a first attempt working with the planet kosmos font.

I kept it pretty simple with the intention that the design should easily transfer to other mediums. (stickers, t-shirts, web art, etc). but, I did spend quite a while styling and fitting it all up -- so it's not quite that simple .

nor-cal thirdgen logo

reactions ? like it ? Not ? . . . lets hear 'em

p.s. 3 stripes for the 3rd generation -- like I had to tell you that ...
oh, and if the logos are displaying really jaggedly, make sure you'v got the option for 'smooth line art' checked under your display preferences.

Hey, thanks for all the comments guys !
In response to the character spacing, sure there is something we can do about it. Check these out, while I explain what your looking at. . .

Letter Spacing Examples

In the first column is the original font (thanks to TraviZ), with varying letter spacing. . .
first row = 25 point spacing, second = 50 point spacing, third row = 75 point spacing, and fourth row = 100 point spacing

In the second column is the font scaled down 20% on the horizontal. . . I thought this thinned out some of the thicker strokes of this font, and greatly decreased the size of the logo. . .
but on the other hand, i really like the 'bigness', of the original look, so -- its up to TGO to decide . . .

and, where and when is the next get together going to be? it would be neat if these were ready to give out.

a club needs to be started in central cal, then you can make us some decals I really like the ones you guys have now. It looks sweet. You should design a logo for thirdgen.org The ones they have are boring and plain. Keep up the good work man

Awesome looking logos! O and btw im in Red Bluff (40 miles north of Chico) and id love a G2G with other Nor-Cal owners. Unfortunately im in the midst of Joining the Air Force so i dont know if ill be around for any G2G this summer. When i get back though my T/A will be going under the Ratchet and will be getting an LS1 drivetrain so then maybe ill be proud to open my hood.

I think the T on ThirdGen needs to be more prominent on the cross. It look to much like an I or L. Other than that I really like the orange into red graphic. Pretty cool and count me in. So whens the get together.

I thought I saw another post with some of the Sac guys talking about a GTG down in Pismo in August. Don't know if maybe we can combine the two into just one Nor cal GTG.

I had thought the same exact thing when I saw it.

I love the blue highlighted one. I'd actually put that on my car if the T was capitalized, and that means a lot because I wouldn't put any stickers on my car usually. Well done.

I'm looking forward to a Nor-cal Thirdgen GTG sometime this summer. Let's get it planned!

yeah, i agree. . . the "t" looks a little whimpy to me too . . .but, unfortunately this font set has only one letter case -- no difference between upper and lower case letters. So its just not as easy as 'capitalize this letter' . . .

I'll work on it thou, and plan on posting some comps as soon as I get something worth showing.

the update is :
there really is none. . .
sorry, but work, tuning the new setup, workin' on tha ride and home - has not left me enough time to get done all I should be.
I know -- excuses, excuses . .
but the good news is - most of that is done now. I should have a comp posted in the next few. til then.

I put alot of time trying to finesse different ideas into this logo -- and most of them lead me straight back to tha drawing board. . .
Heres a slight variation of the logo with an improvised captial T.
Note: the "T" is just a quick comp. Much can be done to improve the spacing & symmetry.
I cant say it makes that much of a difference to me. . . but hey, this design ain't for me -- it's for all.

so lemme hear it . . .
