Shifting gears.
Here's some in car footage of 2 gear shifting drag cars for those of you who want to drive a manual transmission at the track.

thank you
That is probably the coolest footage I have ever seen on the net! I LOVE the second one - nice wheelie at the start and then through the gears like a pro. That was freaking awsome.

It looks like he's shifting into second before the front wheels are back on the ground. Watch that shift light. He's almost shifting just before the light comes on so it's in the next gear when the light is on. Those are not clutch assisted shifts either.
The first car at the end of the run, I think you hear the blower belt whine as it's slowing down. It's possible he shut it off also and that's gear whine.

The first car is a Baretta with a 615 BBC that runs 7's.
The second one is a 428 Cobra Jet '78 Fairmont. Exterior shots with the wheels in the air.

Those are awesome noone can deny that, but Im a fan of clutch assisted shifting. Flame me all you want but to watch someone bang gears using the clutch is more impressive to me. Call it weird but thats my take on it!

Well I only have to assume they're not clutch assisted. Your not going to get speed shifts like that with a clutch. Being a race car also, the gears and syncros are not designed to last 100,00 miles either.

Great footage, Stephen.
I think this one is a clutch assisted manual shifted car...runs low 9s, was Hot Rods Fastest Pump Gas Drag Car.
Notice the huge bangs and fire out the tail pipes when he ****s, I forgot where I read it but I think thats when he hits clutch to shift and bouces of the rev limiter.

I've watched it several times, it looks to me like both have the wheels back on the ground before the 1st shift. The Fairmont bounces just a bit after coming down, before his first shift, perhaps that's what made it appear that the front was still up. Did notice his shift light was on well before the finish line (perhaps as far back as 1000').
I know the Lenco is clutchless shift (used to drive by their facility on the way home from work - thought about checking into working there before moving to Colorado). I don't know much about Jericos - I would guess from his body motion that he's using the clutch to shift.
Funny - the daily driver I sold to get the Camaro together was an '80 Fairmont 4 cyl 4 spd...

That last vid looks like a clutch assisted...
I enjoy a good race in any car, but for me it has to be clutch assisted. Just the fact that it takes the most skill to master and when done right is something to be admired by. Not everyone can bang gears with a clutch!
