only place I dont like. Some burs, and the weld is built up good for strength. Hoping the opening is still large enough.

Looks great Jay.
Thats fairly standard to have welding flack inside flange ports on ant brand of aftermarket headers. Just take a round sanding disc and de-burr them. You won't break the welds.

Awesome! Report back, too... I need some pics of it, on the car (from underneath, if possible) to see what I can do about a turbo pipe for it

ok, forgot to get under-car shots as I was to happy. But when its on the rack early next week for the um "cat converter", I'll take some. I'll try to see what track fees are, but its 1000 or 1/8
no 1/4s around here.
Problems!
Left side hits oil filter
pf47 may clear, havent tested
Issues on install.
Right side, have to pull alt, and dx battery. Does take some wiggling. The bottom mount touches frame rail tell you tighten it down, then it pulls away. Not included, but needed will be 6" o2 sensor extension. I gotta order one. We tugged n tugged, and like gutar string right now, but its hooked up. Bottom middle bolt requires 1/4 ratchet, extension, and 7/16 socket. No other way! Top 3 reg ratchet n socket. Bottom front and rear, open end wrench.
Let side, gotta loosen up dipstick tube. Advise pulling oil filter, and presser sensor for better safe then sorry. Had to push on fuel lines for a min to wiggle it in place. Have to unplug vac to break booster. Top 3 bolts easy. Bottom not sure which ones you have to be under car with shorty wrench.
Y-pipe mounts nicely. Even clears the deeper 3.4 oil pan
3.4+open headers+2 crazy white boys+9pm = pissing some folks off
Results, as of right now, I think I have lost tad low end (remember, open exhaust), but have gained top end. Now time to park it tell I can get to exhaust shop.
Pics will be up in a few days.

I'm going to bet you didn't take a "before" run at the 1000 or 1/8. Results would probably be more dramatic in the 1/4 though. Well, do you think it was worth it?

Damien, the only track it has been on is SCCA tracks. All the drag tracks are atleast 1+ hour away and I dont know how to get to them. But I will try to go in next few months.
Worth it, if it makes this car run like my old s10, WAY worth it. But untill I get the whole system setup, I'm not saying.
Project, I think my cell phone does video/sound clips. I may see what I can do. Dont know anyone with digi video camera
Dave, no clue whats up with yours?? You ordered 3 days after mine, so yours should have shipped by now

TWO HOURS! Dang you guys were working quickly! Now I'm really encouraged! You did spray the old bolts down w/ PB'laster before you started?

patience, whats that? O yea, old Guns N Roses song
89bird. No we didnt. I had installed the engine about 6-7 months ago, so bolts to heads had been recently re-done. We cut the stock y-pipe down low and just pulled the manifolds and some pipe up thru the top.
2.5 hours. That included drinks, staring at the neighbors wife and one of the daughters, finding radio to put in garage, jacking car up.
Did not include picking up mess, or test drive.

my headers have been put on a back order till oct 13. go figure. the bigger filter isnt the "stock" filter though, is it? all the books ive seen call for the shorter one. id like to be able to run the longer one, but if not, no big deal for me.

my 3.1 listed a pf52 (I thought). Now the 3.4 called for pf47.
Which one does the 2.8 take? That might be one of the differences.
Dave, sorry if my findings delayed your headers
But being that I was one of the first to have them, I truely expected more problems then this. I am just trying to help them, as well as everyone on here to make sure they get a great item.

ok, just looked at partsamerica.com
86 2.8 takes pf47
91 3.1 takes pf52
94 3.4 takes pf47

Well, I bet pacesetter did make them correctly. But well see if they are willing to adjust them for a larger filter

can you order them without the egr hookup on'em, and what about smog pump? I didn't see any openings for it in the picture but then again I'm not sure what it looks like. I can't wait to get these friggin things, I'm thinking of getting a 2nd job just to be able to get them.

ERG is a must to be carb approved. I just took the block-off plate I had and put it on these.
No smog pump hole. I offered pics to be sent in of the plugged hole, but never heard back.

i forgot to ask earlier, did you use the manifold gaskets? i know some dont recommend using the gaskets, at least on stock manifolds, since our cars didnt come w/ them from the factory.

the headers comew/gaskets. Even w/the stock manifolds, it's good to use gaskets unless you want leaks, as I don't believe that the meatla to metal surfaces will be true anymore. Also, Dale, I found the exhaust manifold gaskets I got for the motor, if you still need need them

Yes, they came with some really nice gaskets. Something else I forgot to mention.
The paint that comes on these, after 20 min of running, its almost burned off.
So first install, use basic cheapie gaskets, run them a month or so. Pull off, paint hi-heat your choice. Then put them back on with the good gaskets.
Thanks for the offer Nate, but will cost as much to ship them as for me to get a set locally.

there was no reason for the switch- unless GM realized the obvious- that the PF52 is the better filter to use. The PF52's also used on the 4.3 Vortec V6's, too. Will our motors take an oil filter relocation kit? I never looked into it (never had to)!Congrats on the install by the way!!
I'll have to give Jet Hot a call and see how much they want for a ceramic job on V6 headers... I guess people also get the y-pipe done, huh?

Food for thought when talking to Mr. Gerle-
If the headers clear the shorter filter but not the longer one, then whats going to happen when you try to even unsrcew the shorter one to replace it?

The PF47/52 also fits the 3800 engines as well
.
The car they used must've had the short filter on when they did fitments for it.

about the paint that comes on them, I was under the impression that they paint them just so that they don't rust while shipping. I thought we were supposed to sand them or snad blast them and repaint them before we put them on

tomp, dads 4.3 vortec (2001 model) calls for pf47. I didnt know they switched filters on the 2.8 in 87. Interesting.
vsix, had same thought
project. I know what the 3.8 takes
Damien. I have no clue. If that was the case, I would rather they come bare metal. I'm going to get some hi-heat white this weekend. If I had time/place/cash, I would order some DIY ceramic and spray them. Wonder if you can throw these in the house oven and finish baking that off

yeah, if i had the cash I'd have ordered the coated ones striaght from pace setter. I don't know if you can finish baking that stuff off, but I do know a house oven works well for baking the new stuff on.
