Ronal and the guy behind the desk

I was seriously interested in getting some Ronals, now Im not so sure. I was going to order some R15's painted gold.

Gary provided me some prices and all I did was add them up and pass the info on in a thread he started in the appearance forum.

Then I get this in my email:

"You don’t know what you’re talking about…and you MISINFORM the public w. your DEDUCTIONS—in an open Forum!
This is exactly why one has to be CAREFUL when using the INTERNET.

I’d suggest you stick to things that you know about!

Gary Allison,

Ronal USA"

I guess I will shop around..I didnt want to mess with adapters anyway.

Ah, it's always a sad day to watch a company degrade to insulting emails and have those emails placed online for the world to see.

Was there truly a large error here? Or was the error really only 5 dollars?

You know Casey, all I wanted to do was add detailed info compiled from his emails to the post for consideration and comparison.

During our emails I asked him specific questions, he replied with specific dollar amounts. I added them up. Basic stuff.

Instead of telling me where I'm wrong in the numbers he starts screaming at me.

If most are like me, we want the bottom line.

In one of the later emails he tells me "In the future call me if you have more questions" That set me back a bit. Was he getting a little annoyed at answering my questions ? Perhaps...but when you are trying to sell a product there a basic rule to follow:

Have ALL the information about what you are selling available. List options, whats included, and whats not. This leaves out any guesswork and saves time for everyone.

I really like the wheels and hold nothing against him but Im not about to fork out my hard earned money when I get this sort of treatment.

I feel your pain. Almost 2 years ago now Gary made one of his first appearances on the board. I was one of the first to jump on a set of these wheels. I waited almost 4 months past the promised due date to have these wheels delivered. Gary's knowledge, customer service and communication skills were as terrible then as they are now.

Good luck with your new wheels from someone else, I know I ALMOST went that route thanks to Gary.

2 words - Customer Service. Really, what happens after you pay and there is a problem?? Will they take care of it?? I would look to a more customer oriented company. There are many out there willing to fight for your money by making you a happy customer, not sit and insult you.

One last word...I asked Gary two things, he did not respond:

Show me in the numbers where Im wrong.

Quote me painted rims only, no tires.

It must be nice to sell so many rims you can chose who you want to deal with.

Don

I called over the winter, don't know who I talked to, but I asked about the "Firehawk" style rim for thirdgens, R-15 or whatever they're called. The gentleman was very short with me, irritated it seemed for me calling and asking. SORRY I didn't know the status of the rim, and was making an inquirery, maybe giving Ronal a possible SALE if they were availible in what I was willing to spend. Companies like that aren't all bad, it's the unprofessional, ignorant (in both sences) tools they have working for them. As stated, customer service is key to a lucrative business. Word spreads fast if your company is full of sh*t. Remember the people that have done business with you, because they will remember you, for good or bad. A great source of advertisment is word of mouth.

I too had a negative experience with Gary at Ronal at the first R-15 re-release.

If Gary had politely pointed out you were incorrect in your prices, and indicated where you were wrong - I'd definitely consider doing business with him. I've been wavering between Snypers and Ronals and that gesture finalized my choice. I love both sets of wheels, but that was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. I've dealt with far too many childish company reps in my own line of work, I'd rather not bother with them on my own time.

They act like they're doing us a favor by taking our money for their overpriced product and deplorable customer service.

A side note - I don't quite comprehend why each individual customer must call or email for prices. Aren't they the same for every person? Perhaps that's why he became so indignant when you posted your prices.

Can we revive this thread and hear from some more people? I've been keeping my finger on the trigger for a set of these rims since November, just waiting until I had a "spare" $800 to drop. But, as mentioned by the posters above, I am not going to want to or feel comfortable spending my money with the company if the service/attitude is poor. I know that since the most recent re-release of the wheels and the sale prices that started in January, a number of people on here have bought them and dealt with Gary or others at Ronal.

So whats the deal with these wheels? What sizes to they come in? What do they weigh?

Personally I dont see whats so attractive about them. I think the GTA wheels look 100X better and you can get a brand new set through classic industries.

Wow, this is the opposite of the experience I had when I delt with Gary. I called early into the week to inquire about the clearance special and if there were still sets available. I did ask about the custom painting but decided it added too much to the price. He was very nice with me over the phone. I called back a week later and ordered the wheels, and them came within a week and they were boxed great. They were going to go on my S/C but I just got a red formula so naturally their going on that.

I also ordered my R-15 back in Feb and Gary was very nice to me over the phone. I called a few days later to find out when they would be shipped and then after I recieved them had another question and he was nice then too. Maybe he had a "rude awakening" at some point and changed his tune...... They wheels came a few days later and were very well boxed

no awakening...he's still rude. Makes me think twice on ordering rims from him. I was quoted $175 per rim yesterday by an associate. Gary called me today in a very snippy tone saying that the price is, was, and always has been $195 per rim and that "I am the owner of the business. What I say goes, and I will not honor the $175".

Sounds pretty bad. I, too, was fairly recently quoted the $175 per wheel price, $800 shipped to my door. I know others on here have purchased them for that amount, as well.

Yes. I just received a call from Gary himself. He said he would rather not sell me any rims at all, because of my attitude.

Wow. And this "attutude" is what? That you wanted to know the true price of the wheels?

It would help if he would respond here and do some damage control.

Thats what I want to know. I got conflicting prices from two people, and I want to know what the real price is, and why it changed.

Now I have an attitude and he'd rather lose $800+ than sell me rims.

I have a feeling he will be logging in here soon enough with a reason for his actions.

I hope so. I have two thirdgens, love the wheels, but refuse to do business with people who are impolite or rude or whatever else.

it is just me or why both getting the invoices...
the a$$hat has already stated that he will not honor anything past, present or future...

His attitude clearly sucks, so why even go through the headache of dealing with him.
Find someone else... hell you can get some hella really nice 4th gen fitment rims with adapters for $800...

reminds me of the last guy I dealt with locally...
he rebuilt the tranny in my truck maybe 2 months ago. I bought this GTA and did not want to have to rebuild it so I asked him if could just switch out the parts and he said no biggie bring them by and I will do it.
day 1... nothing...
day 2... nothing... but asks if I could do some of the predisassembly to make it quicker for him. fine I do it. I call and tell him that that work is done. He will be by after he closes the shop @5. I go by his house at 6:30, taking a shower. leave a message to call me back. 7:30 go back to his house and he cops an attitude saying I do not want to do it today, I MIGHT do it tomarrow no go away. That just pisses me off to low hell...
day 3... call, he might come by after 5. I get fed up and say to hell with it and do it myself. I break out the tranny book and go to town. Now I have never worked on a tranny beofre, and I had them both torn down, and the bird tranny back togeather in about 3 1/2 hours. I go back just to get some gaskets and he looks at me funny and asks why... I tell him I already did it, I just need XXX gaskets.
He follows me home right there @2 PM and takes what I just did apart, and puts it back togeather and says nice job. I restrain myself from picking up a hammer and smashing his head in...

I wouldnt even worry about an invoice. Why give him any business if he was being a ***** to you. Just find another wheel. Try JD WHEELS Custom alloy wheels and performance tires

Well Gary emailed me back today. He accused me of yelling, swearing, and calling him names. Because of my actions, he stands by his decision to not sell me rims.

Of course all of this is entirely untrue. I did happen to hang up on him when he started being irrational on the phone. Thats the extent of my rudeness.

All my correspondance was forwarded to the US Representative of Ronal. I am still waiting to hear from him. I guess his name is Marcus.

Are you kidding me? You're one of the most laid back, quiet guys I know.

Whatever, he's a douche. Their rims are super heavy anyway. You can get lighter, nicer looking rims for cheaper. Tell him to shove a centercap up his ***

JDWheels is the way to go. The customer service was top notch, I got my rims in just a few days and the price was great. Anyone considering Snypers go for it in 17" and you won't be sorry.

Reading the above makes me glad I didn't waste money on the R-15s. I despise nothing more than giving my hard earned money to garbage companies no matter how good or poor the product.

I bought a set a few months back that were on sale for $800 delivered.

They were very nice to me.

It was a good experience. I thought that it was a good value too for a 17x9.5 wheel that would fit with lugnuts and all.

Wheels arrived on time and were very well packaged.

I would buy from them again.

I also had a good experience. I must of caught Gary on a good day. When I got the wheels, one of the wheels was slightly damaged from shipping. When I told them, they had UPS pick it back up the next day and then sent me a new one. They didn't even ask me questions about the damage. They just took care of it. My only complaint about the wheels is that they are a little heavier than other wheels, but I would never use them for racing so it doesn't matter.

Remember how I was pissing and moaning over Gary at Ronal and his attitude? Well, he no longer works there. I just spoke with Luis who said that the email I sent to their home office in Germany including links to all the TGO threads etc was used in their final decision. Im pretty happy about that, as ****ed up as that may sound. That guy was a total **********.

I ended up paying full price for the wheels. Besides what everyone said about not giving them business, I wanted them, and they were new, and I didnt feel like paying Hawks inflated price. I figured they were worth it. But now, Louis is giving me the $200 credit, to bring it back down to the sale price of $175 shipped

Also, since Gary is gone, they are having a sale on these rims for $175 a piece shipped, but they have 5 sets left PERIOD! Better get them now

Wow, power to the people..

I never had a problem with the guy, glad I bought two sets the last custom with black centers, though now I am sad I sold the silvers set since they will never be made again.
