I have been in contact with Michelle from Speedzone regarding setting up a group event there. They have very little on weekends, other than renting out a meeting room + food + a gift card for $25-45 a person. The best offer was unlimited racing for $30 from 7pm to 11pm Sunday nights only. If we get 10+ people, it'll be $25 a person.

So, what Sunday night do we want to sign up?

Count me in any Sunday evening- I am a definate. On the rare chance I might not make it, I will make sure you have the $25 anyways to cover me.

Also- A cousin of mine came into town two days ago. We are trying to hook up (weather permitting) to go check out the Adam's Kart track on Thursday evening.

But my Manager at work gave me a magazine for companies and organizations full of discounts to everywhere(Disneyland, Six Flags, Aquariums, and SPEEDZONE!!!) I tore out the Speedzone one and heres what it says:

Yes, its this Sunday the 21st! I signed us up, so the price will be $25. We need to meet there around 6:30pm, give me the money, and then we have to pay all at once to get this deal. Anyone who shows up late after 6:45 will be paying $30.

Memory serves me correctly- (and I have a witness) You finally passed me when I got snagged behind a slower traffic incident and you boastfully started to raise your hand as you caught up to me and started to pass. As you raised your hand to celebrate, I spun you and drove around smiling- After the race I remained you it is never wise to gloat with me on your tail. You were in front of me a total of .375 seconds. Just stating facts, You asked for it, sorry about the embarassment.

No you’re absolutely correct! The race I was referring to wasn’t on the slick track; it was on the road course in the back of the facility. Wait…now I’m confused!?!?! I’ve been to that damn place so many time in the last couple of years its hard to accurately keep count of all of the egos I’ve crushed. I remember Kevin was there and you too but… oh well. All I can say is I’ve turned many would be participants into victims and if your looking for a little quick and dirty, well here it is. Oh and incase you miss me; I’ll be the corpulent gentlemen in front of you laughing while passing you in a four-wheel drift.

I’ll remember that when I’m lapping you. No matter how good you think you are…I’m better!

Mike, I'd really like to get a few guys that can drive out to that Adam's Go-kart track in Riverside. It would be alot more fun doing the higher speed stuff. They claim to have karts that will do about 60mph on a 3/4 mile course.

You and I both know these little karts don't mean crap in driving skills Just playing with you back.

Absolutely! My past experiences with shifter carts and such has been less than satisfactory. I’m afraid my girth (if you will) won’t allow me to fully experience the thrills and excitement carting has to offer. Belly to steering wheel clearance is the issue.

But as far as betting goes…you’re on. I think $50.00 pails in comparison to the embarrassment one might suffer falling into the hands of defeat. But we can discuss the particulars at the track.

They have lap times printed for each car. It goes to that and the witnesses can determine also the margin of victory between each race.

People! Do you realize what is going to take place at Speedzone tonight? There is going to be a legendary sprint car driver/builder, autocross champion, NHRA legend, and California’s Canyon Czar, all on the track at the same time. Surely this alone is worth every bit of admission.

Seriously guys with this many people there is sure to be some awesome WTW action.

Fun times last night- It was disappointing that about only half showed up that said they would go- but thats life I guess. If we could get a better commitment of people we could do so much more event wise as a group.

Anyways, those who did miss it really missed out on a fun night. They baby powdered the slick track all night long and personally I have never seen them ever allow 1/4 of the bumping that went on as did last night. Everyone there (not just our group) were literally beating the crap out of those cars and the guys running it were very lienient and tolerant. They must expect it with the babypowder.

My father-in-law and I were taughting eachother so much at one point that after he t-bone me, about a half a lap later I put him into the barrier so hard that the metal barrier bounced up and the poor guy on his tail got "wedged" under the rail (oops- I kinda took him out bigtime, wrong place wrong time). It took the workers about 8 mins to jack up the rail and get the car unstuck.


Kevin, Warren and I want to thank you very much for organizing last nights event and look forward to future driving style meeting like this. Thank you sir.

I have to agree. Those that didn't show missed out on a fun time.

Mike can certainly tear up the go-cart track. Especially when he grabs one of the faster carts. If we could all manage to score equal carts, there would be some serious slicing and dicing taking place.

The slick track was by far the most fun. Lots of passing, slamming each other into the rail and no dud carts. We'll have to do this again soon. Thanks again to Kevin for setting it up.

I third what Bret and Dean stated
It was a kick a$$ night.

The low point was having to find strangers in the parking lot to fill our mininum. Only eight showed up at the appointed time, Jason and Lon appeared later, and we needed ten to meet the mininum and get the price break, otherwise Kevin would have been stuck with the difference. Actually we were all going to chip in the extra $6+ each.

One of my co-workers mentioned a shifter-cart track in Ventura that his brother has raced at. From what he tells me, they are 4-stroke carts. Sounds like a good time.

He's going to get me the info. I'll post about it when I know more.

Bret, Thats the Jim Hall Kart track and school. I go out on scuba boats just south of there in the Ventura docks. Its more of a 1 & 2 full day programs. Not an arrive and drive type venue.

For those not in attendance (since this is the only mention of performance)- I will state for the record that Mike is indeed a decent driver, I would dare to compliment and say to him that he his a very good driver. However, everyone seem to want to just "test the waters" with me and after that no talk or money ever materialised for any bet. I think we all can conclude as to why.

Thank you for your time though. (I am trying to follow up on this a tactfully as I can- we all that attended know who is fast)

It was a lot of fun! I was surprised to be the only gal there.

The lines were extra short, so we hardly had to wait for anything and usually all nine of us were on the track at the same time! Too bad nobody brought a camera.

We should do this more often, at least once or twice a year.

Thank you Mr. Dean that’s very sweet. I will be the first to say that you negotiated the slick track masterfully. Your ability to attack the corners without scrubbing off speed is impressive and extremely noteworthy.

Now the grand prix was better suited to access the skill set of certain individuals. While piloting the green number 12 car you were consistently in the 40-41.xxx range. When I drove the number 12 car I too was in the 40-41.xxx range. Now what does this mean? It means that the rest of the group was running an average of 3-4 seconds slower. Your height verses my weight I’d say it was pretty evenly matched.

I’d have to say that the turbo track was probably my favorite of the night. Everyone kept accusing me of choosing the fastest cars and therefore winning most of the races. But what happens when you purposely start in the back of ten people and still win. Sorry guys…I never wanted to be this good, I just am…

It's easy when I'm stuck in some slug and practicing racer's etiquette and letting faster traffic (which was everyone else on the track) go by, Tom F. is in a similar dog and pulling into the pits, Julie (and me in the last race) has a cart that's fast but won't turn without bucking like a mad bull ...etc.

Don't forget, in one race after you did the old bump-n-run maneuver to get by, three of us (you, a misc. racer and me) were glued bumper to bumper to the finish.

I still say, everyone in equal carts and we'll have some serious competition. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
