has anybody fabed up a nice center council. id like to do one my self but not too sure as to what i really want. post some pics.

The only consoles that are different that I've seen are 4th gen consoles (which require a little fabrication in a Camaro to get it the front to match up decently... by way of firebird pod or cutting on the original console). Of course there's the evoluzione idea of the interior swap, but it costs a little ( click ).

If you swapped in a berlinetta dash (digital dash stuffs... swivel radio... etc), then you woudnt have to worry about the console meeting up with the dash. That might be an idea to go with if you really wanted to fabricate something up. ...of course you'd have to deal with the buttons/digital stuff...

What do you guys think of making something completely custom out of fiberglass? It's just one of the ideas that is floating in my head, but I was thinking of doing something with the dash and the console. I spoke with the guys that sold me the hood. They said it was very doable, but not practicle for them since they were 100% loading with work doing hoods and spoilers, so they didn't need to come up with anything new.

I was thinking of making a mold of what the car has now, then take it out, cut and reshape it and then make another mold for the actual thing.

 

it'd be pretty cool to have a fabbed aluminum dash, floor, and console, but radically altering the shaped of the center consol would be difficult. First of all, there's not a lot of side-side room. Then the front part is still gonna have to be kinda tall n' boxy in order to clear the shifter and all it's associated brackets. It'd be nice to see a custom piece that retains all original functional features (plus a cup holder dammit!) yet still matches the rest of the car. Honestly I think an aluminum version of the factory piece would be nuts... the dash could look a lot better though.

yeah dash is my biggest problem. But I was thinking of something where center console flows a little better (smoother) into the dash

yeah thats pretty bada$$. thats pretty much what i had in mind for my car but a bit smaller and id need something for the e-brake

 

the ebrake slot is going to be the only thing that would make this tricky to make but I have a good visualization of how to do it.
