Engine swap from 96 Police Impala SS to my 91 Camaro

Well,
I have a few questions about this engine I came across...Its a 96 Impala SS police car that was stolen and then stripped...It has 9K miles on the engine...My dads friend said it was a TBI but im thinking it was TPI..Im wondering if this would be a good engine for my camaro...I would throw on my Edelbrock intake TBI and throw on a 350 TB.From what I understand it already has "hi performance" heads and cam...Hes asking 750 for the engine...What does everyone think??I have my stock trans but ill be replacing it soon with a t5 or t56...And ill have 3:42 gearing...Let me know what everyone thinks

Its and LT1 standard SBC parts do not work. The LT1 is better then the older SBC, feel lucky.

umm no. thats a pretty damn good engine stock. its the same thing the 93-96 i think camaro/firebirds have. get the motor and trans. i think painless sells a wiring harness for the motor. get that and then get ready for one hell of a swap. ive seen its not hard but very time consuming with all the wiring.

i kinda know this becuz i did a swap on my friends firebird. took a 88 gta andripped the motor, wiring harness, driveshaft, gas tank, fuel lines, radiator, and fans. and swaped it into his 86 firebird whic was a computer controlled carbed 305. the wiring was the worst part.

Actually you might want to find out what size it is and what material (iron, al) the heads are made of. Some impalas and alot of police cars go the "baby LT1) the 4.3L V-8. Pass if its not a 350.

Do a on here to find out if you want to tackle the swap.

If it's a true SS I highly doubt it would be saddled with a 4.3 v8

I have never seen an SS police car. A lot of Baby LT1's in cop cars though.

EDIT - yes 9C1 Caprices got the baby, LT1 was optional.

check the 8th digit of the VIN should be P
and check the casting number on the block.

All Impala SS's have an Lt1. All 9C1's however do not have an Lt1. Check the VIN like mentioned above, the rear of the block(drivers side I think) to make sure. The RPO code sheet should be on the trunk lid. If it is a true Lt1, then it will have iron heads that are NOT a bad thing. They OUTFLOW the heads from the f-bodies and Corvettes. Their only downfall is that they are heavier.
