3.4 third gen Vs. 04 camry scenario
I know who cares?....I do! When I'm done swappping a 3.4 into my 85 auto will it hang or beat an 4cyl 04 toyota camry auto at least 0-60 or 1/4 mile. Both vehicles are stock. It's my moms camry. Th camry has 150 something HP @ 5700 and 160 something TQ @ 4200 I think. I think I would get killed top end, but her 0-60 times suck. Like 9 seconds. Opinions?

That's good to know. I raced the camry against my dad in his 86 firebird with a 60,000 mile 2.8. I won. I've never driven a 3.4 so I wasn't sure how it would compare to the 2.4 twin cam camry.

Yea I Know it's slow. I don't understand why but 1/2 ton trucks are always trying to play with me when I drive it. No truck has ever beat me in it. It has a good top speed. It shifts into overdrive at like 115. Top speed of 120 govenor limited. I'm not saying its fast though. I know V8s are where the real power is.

What are you doing? Did New Hampshire get too much snow this winter. Forget the 3.4L and put a 5.7L in your '85. You can thank me later!!!

Sorry bud but the 350 is going in my S10 pick up. Plus the 3.4 from what I've seen on here is pretty easy if you know what your doing. I want my camaro to be a daily driver. Besides I'd rather have a muscle truck than a muscle car any day. Oh and we havn't gotten much snow lately. Except the 15 inches we got yesturday. I'm not afraid to drive a V8 in the snow either.

From what I've read a 3.4 has 160 HP 200 TQ. I'm not putting a V8 in the camaro. I WANT to, but I only have the two vehicles and one of them has to get some what good gas mileage.

I got a 3.4 that could change a few opinions of those saying drop a V8 in (all us V6 guys hear thisa t least once). Do your thing dude, you'll be surprised at how well it'll go down the track. Like I always say, If I wanted a race car, it wouldn't be a 5.7L powered Thirdgen.
