TGO is so slow.....

Geese, I had to take a nap while posting a message.

I gotta open 4 windows and its like watching a slot machine.
As which ones craps out and which one loads.
Like I gotta kick the server to get stuff goin???

Think its time for an upgrade.

Backing out of a post or turning a page now takes 20 to 30 seconds... Hope this is only temporary!!!!

Dirk will know the specifics, but that is the plan. He has mentioned it on this website when the server had the hard drive crash just a few weeks ago, that he plans on building a better server. Aside from the vBulletin software, this server is running more recent software.

It takes time to build a server, configure it, and test it to ensure that it is going to be able to be stable for days/months.

i will admit that TGO is quite slow at times, and the server load has been kind of high, but it is better than not being up at all, atleast until Dirk gets the new server ready.

Again, Dirk will know the specifics, but upgrades (new server with a seperate database server) are something that Dirk was planning on doing, to my knowledge. Hopefully it does come soon.

What's different?

It still takes about 25 seconds to bring up the next page when cruising the message boards, used to be (like that!)

As far as i know, we are still on the old equipment. Outside of newer software (php, apache, etc.) that resulted after the OS hard drive crashed, the real upgrades have not yet been put into production, as far as i know.

Yup, it's lousy alright. But TGO will be getting a new server soon that will allow it to run better than it ever did or could.
