Edelbrock TES coatings
Hi all,
Any recent updates on how the Edelbrock factory ceramic or nickle plated chrome coatings hold up with use??
Pictures would be great if you have them
thanks
Scott

Just bought a set of these. The coating is on the upper short headers only, not on the y-pipe. No long term use yet. Good fit though. Used angle spark plug ends and ran the wires underneath, good clearance. Very minor modifications to AC bracket to install. My engine was out of the car so it was pretty simple, be a little harder in the car.
They look really good though. I guess I will have to get some 1500F ceramic paint for the Y pipe. No biggie as it is not as noticeable as the actual headers.
thanks for your help with this

well, i got these used with my car (not installed), and i had them sitting in a plastic bag in my garage for a while which explains the "Rusty" looking spot on them (though it will probably wipe right off with a little steel wool or something

I've had the nickel plated TES's for about three years now, and I don't have any rust like the pic above, but they do discolor over time with a bluish-greenish-yellowish haze.
I suppose I could find something that will bring back the finish, but it's the heat that does it, so it'd probably haze back over again anyway. But so far- no rust!

Edelbrock just came out with a titech coating that is supposed to be some sort of titanium finish. Anyone have any hits at that coating?

My dad has the nickel plated headers on the 90 Formula. I think they've been on for at least a year. I'll see how they look soon.

Read about that on the Y-pipe somewhere. I stripped the paint off mine and sprayed a good coat of high temp silver. Looks good so far but has only been six months. Sure be a hard pipe to replace unless it can be bought from Edel.
