what kind of head lights do you have?

I bought a 89 camaro a month ago. from now till the spring (when I'll take it out of "storage") I want to give it a "face lift". The car is in great condition apart from the head lights being old and crappy looking, the bumper lights oxidized and a front bumper that will need to be repainted probably. I'm looking into fixing my bumper lights. The front bumper should get repainted when theres enough dry, salt free pavement going from my house to the body shop, and then theres the head lights.

What kind of head lights do you use and what do you suggest?

Are those HIDs? Id either opt for those, or Sylvania Silverstars if you want a sealed beam.

those look almost identical to mine, except I got mine from summit racing. I can't get my lights to take a good picture they are way to bright. And I have different bulbs than black84. I had some similiar to those except they were 90/100 bulbs and entirely to bright and drew way to much power so i dropped to 55/60 bulbs. Mainly because I have them wired as 4 low 4 high instead of 2 low 4 high.

Here's the only picture that came out all the rest were whitewashed pretty much

and here's what mine look like

i made my own out of i believe 10gauge wire. Just pulls to many amps for a 105 amp alternator to handle. I bought a harness to upgrade the lights and decided I didn't like it and made my own.

its not the wiring that is the problem...you need relays in it to kick down the power going to the other older wires in the harness...it was worth the 50 bucks but i've just been too lazy to work on the car

the front new front lens's look great. how hard are they to remove/replace?

mine are still decent without too much marking but they are starting to get a bit of a haze to them.. nothing a quick polish couldn't get out.

Add me to that list.

Quick question to those with Firebirds: Do you find that your sealed beam headlights gather moisture on the inside of the bulb more often than not? I wonder if having them be stored facing down is an issue?

I am running the silverstars and when cleaning my car last weekend I noticed that they have moisture in them. The stock type did that too. I was hoping that these were better. If anyone has any tips on how to prevent this please post up.

A lot of those h4651 style are listed under "universal" because they fit so many different cars and trucks.

I found them to be only marginally brighter than stock, and all 4 burned out within 6-8 months. Now, I admit I use my lights a lot because I drive in a lot of heavy traffic (helps people notice you in a world of SUV's), but the stockers I replaced them with have lasted nearly two years--even with rock holes in them. As expensive as silverstars are, they should last better than that. Maybe I got a bad batch, but I wasn't willing to shell out the coin again to verify that.

These ones I have came with the car, not sure on the brand. In the past I've bought my enclosures from Hella. Very high quality glass enclosures. If I was going to go H4 again and I needed to buy enclosures again I would go with Hella. I got no problem with H4's but I'm gonna try something different on my Z28.
