700R4 Kickdown eliminator valve thingy

I am so fed up with my 4th to 3rd kickdown at half throttle. I keep hearing about this valve that B&M makes to prevent this. My question is one, does it work, and two how does this thing install. I want to do it myself, but i don't have a garage, just a street and some jackstands. Does it go inside the valve body or something???

Do you mean so that you can keep the foot down and shift from 3rd to 4th at WOT? If so I've been told that the GM part from the 'Vette is better than the B&M piece. The part # is 8673948. This is what I've got but haven't gotten rount to getting it fitted yet. Anyone actually know how to fit this thing?

I'm interested in this too. It'd be nice to shift to 4th on my 700R4 at WOT. Doesn't the B&M one only allow 3/4 throttle before the downshift? I want it to stay in 4th even at WOT. How much is the Vette piece if it does this?

Firstly, I have to say that I love the line of IROCs sitting outside your house. It looks so menacing.

Right, back to this shift kit. The kit from GM caost me about $18 and consists of a valve body, spring, 3 other bits of metal that I have no idea what they are (I'm not really an expert on trannys) and gaskets.

From what I've read on here this part is far better than the B&M part. Plus I think it's cheaper.

The attached pic shows you exactly what you get for your $18. This is all we need to upshift into 4th at WOT. Now, does anyone know how to easily fit it?

The sleeve, the spring and the plunger replace the stock 3-4 shift valve. The parts go into the valve body. Here's a great picture:

The other parts replace the main boost valve and they go into the pump. Here's a picture of that:

Hmmm, so it's not really easy to install. That sucks. DOes anyone know if a tranny shop would do this mod and how much it would cost??

I haven't installed this kit myself (yet), but it shouldn't be too difficult. The parts can be installed with the tranny in the car. You have to drop the valve body to install the 3-4 shift valve. Just be careful so you don't loose any of the check ***** (separator plate probably comes off) and make sure to install all ***** in the right place. Also pay close attention to where the different VB bolts go. The bolts are different and if you mix them up, you are likely to damage something. Absolute cleanliness is of utmost importance!

The boost valve can also be installed with the tranny in the car, with a pair of nose pliers and some patience.

EDDIETA_ZZ3 has done this job. Try to get his opinion.
