4th gen exhaust
My freind has a 96 z28 and bought a flowmaster catback system for it about 6 months ago, now hes taking it off cause he bought a header set with the dual cat setup, I was wondering if a 4th gen catback would fit my 91 rs, since hes jsut giving it to me for the taking, any help would be appreciated thanks

You'll nead a hoist or a lotta ***** so you can jack the car about five feet in the air and get under it.It took a bit of monkeying around, but after I got it in I just had to wire it in place, drive to Midas and have them weld a 10 inch pipe the tie it all together. But I have a custom Y pipe.Is yours stock?I think I would test fit it before you buy it.But if it's really cheap buy it,and then the worst case scenerio would be you get a muffler out of it.

I have hedman headers and a custom y pipe right now, I believe the y pipe works its way down to 2 1/2 inches for some reason, and thats all I have now, cause Id like to by pass the cat.

4thgen exaust will be the same except possible different hanger location and that 4thgen exaust doesn't go as far to the front of the car. The 3rgen catback twists to the passanger side of the car to connect to the cat under the passangers feet. The 4thgen is a lot shorter because insted the Y pipe ending at the passangers feet, it goes around the transmission.
see how the pipe ends straight
now look at thirdgen style: it curves to the right to get to the cat.
There are variations in 4thgen style because the early ones were very much like thridgens with 1 cat. The later 4thgens with 2 cats should be how I described with the Y pipe going around the transmission.
