killing my cfi

I'm pretty much decided on throwing away my cfi and using the tbi from the 305 that I'm installing in my 82. it just seems there is alot more you can do with tbi than cfi. what's your guys opinions?
this engine is coming out of an 88 sport coupe and going into my 82 z28, along with the 700r4. I'm planning on eventually getting a shift kit, converting it to full manual, and getting a ratchet shifter. then getting s/r torquers, edelbrock performer rpm intake, lt1 roller cam, 670 cfm holley tbi unit. and a long time from now, replacing the dished pistons. what do you guys think? any ideas on what kind of power I would be making?

I'm also trying to figure out a way to use my functional z28 hood scoops, to work on the tbi setup. any ideas? or aftermaket cleaners that would work well?

You will want a ecm out of a differnt year so you can burn a decent chip.(anything but an 88). You can find out more about it on the diy prom board.

Do some reading and look over past post and you will find lot's if info on modding the TBI.

As far as the intake air you could install an open element for the best flow (and cheap) and make a base to go under it and seal it to the hood with foam having your air flapper intake vents inside of it . Should be trick!!!

You could also buy an Offenhauser Cross-Ram intake. It is the same design as the Cross-Fire, just bigger. With a custom top plate and bored TBI's you have the potential for a LOT of power.

Here you see a comparison between the Cross-Fire and the Cross-Ram:

The GM Cross-Ram intake ( almost identical to Offenhauser ) made an amazing 458 HP from the 302 @ 7200 RPM in the 69 Camaro!

Read all about it here:
http://www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com/...s/crossram.htm

With TBI's instead of carbs it should be very streetable.
( I already bought an Offenhauser intake myself )

They are still available from PAW, Performance Automotive Warehouse 818-678-3000.

These prices might have changed:

I have since decided to keep my cfi, atleast for now, as stock to stock it will probably give me more power at high rpm's and a friend of mine pointed out an interesting fact, the power rating on my engine and the tbi where both done on a engine dyno wich doesn't take into account the hood scoops cold air induction, with actual driving, plus the decent power of the lo3 could be due to the fact that it has a roller cam, which I have heard in itself could be adding as much as 20hp.
besides the stock cfi manifold can't be any more restrictive than the stock tbi manifold.
and damn I just like the way cfi looks under the hood.

any one got any idea what ecm my car would have? or how easy it is to burn proms for? or even if I can?
