Re: Some LT1 Parts

I am debating on whether I want a brand new one... everything in my engine bay will be up for show quality so I am not sure if I want to go used. From the pic it looks like the timing cover has seen better days, also some of the fastener holes look rough. I forget if the cover is aluminum but I know aluminum doesnt rust so I assume it is just real dirty.

Where are you located? I would rather take a look at it close up to see if I can clean it up to look brand new or not.

I've never shipped to Canada but I'm willing to try.

Any idea how to get an estimate?

Yes, it's aluminum. It's very dirty. It will clean up as much as you are willing to clean it.

I know that I've had some aluminum parts powdercoated before. The first thing they did was BAKE it in an oven for a while - which basically drew out all the oils from the pores of the aluminum.

Then it's just a matter of polishing it up.

Obviously a new cover would be "easier" to do but will cost more. So do you have the money to spend on a new one? Then get that one. If you're poor like me then get the "cheap" one from me!
