Blister inserts

On a 91-92 z28 hood how are the inserts attached? Are they stick on? Mine are flaking paint off and I think I would look good to scrape the paint off and leave them aluminum but it would be so much easier to get the paint off if I remove them first.

I'm assuming they are stick on but don't want to go prying and find out they screw on and mess them up. This hood has been repainted and they didn't remove the blisters first, I don't want to break the paint removing the blisters to find out.

Re: Blister inserts

they have nubs that stick through the hood and have speed nuts on the back side, you have to remove the insulation under the hood to see them, be very careful, they like to snap from the heat cycles they have been through

Re: Blister inserts

No not the blister, I know how the blister is bolted to the hood, but the inserts on the blister, are they stick on? But it doesn't matter anyway, after trying to research it I've read enough and decided I'm going to cut them out and make a functional heat extractor. I will take my time and post pics as I go, I'm going to make them in such a way that when it rains water won't fall through into the intake.

Re: Blister inserts

Ta da! Functional extractors, working? yes, pretty? meh not so much. But I need to sand and paint the hood so I'll prolly resin some mesh on from underneath when I do that. The hood is cut so if it rains and I'm sitting still the water will drain down between motor and rad.
