89 IROC-Z L98 w/ T5 and many other mods
I would like to sell this car asap, need money for school. Please e-mail me if interested. Looking to get $7,000 obo. I bought this car a year ago this November. It was a quick decision buy and if I was smart I could have got it for a cheaper price if I had the car checked out by my mechanic, but with that aside I think it was a great buy. The car has about 126,000 miles while the motor and trans have 55,000 miles, but the problem was all the little problems the car had such as not starting at random times. Now after working all the problems out and added some performance the car starts w/ out a problem and runs great. When I bought the car it only ran 14.4 at best at the track. After most of the work that I did, I ran a 13.6 (I have time slips to prove it). I think it could do even better with a better driver because I was afraid of beating on the trans. I also dyno tuned the car. After I tuned it I got a HP reading of 278 at the wheels and 313 torque at the wheels (I have the dyno sheet). May I add that this was in 90 degree weather so technically you could add 10-15 horses w/ better conditions. To sum it up the car is a great road machine, it handles any turn you throw at it with ease, and overall it’s a fun car to just cruise in. Below is a list of everything I could think of that the car has. I have every receipt for parts I purchased and for the parts and service previous owners purchased. I never put the car in a shop, all work was done by me to insure it was properly done and so that if something went wrong I could figure out the problem with some ease.

I also forgot to mention that the car was garage kept by myself and the previous owner. The computer also has a Hypertech chip. You are only suppose to run 93 octane fuel w/ the chip. I only ran the car w/ 93 octance from BP gas stations. I only put 6,000 miles on the car since I've owned it.

I am interested in this car. It looks nice from the pics, however they are not very detailed on your craigslist page. How does the car run? Any stumbles or issues that it has? what about rust? underbody? interior?

The car runs great, the trans whines, but shifts perfectly fine. Everything is in tune basically, but it could use a chip porgrammed for the parts I put on. There are no major rust spots on the car, just some surface rust on the this little metal lip piece in the rear under the the car. The underbody is all in good condition. The car was just painted two years ago right before I bought it.

heres some more. also the interior is just really clean. there are no rips in the seats or carpet. The carpet is kind of faded though. The whole car is clean for the most part. It was garage kept since I've owned it and the previous owner told me he kept it in a garage too. So it was been well maintained.

Re: 89 IROC-Z L98 w/ T5 and many other mods
So yea I am still very interested. I'm in michigan so if I drove down there to buy it I would surely not want to be dissapointed - your sure there is nothing else I should know about? and also, it looks as though you have d.o.t approved drag radials on there - are they good for a long highway trip? With having said that is there anything else that would hold this back from being able to make a long trip like that? I am going to work on getting some money arround this week - maybe I could come down there this next weekend, would that work for you? my e-mail: xavier_444@excite.com - thanx!~

alright I'm really trying to sell my car here. I thought $5800 was the lowest I had to go, but a good amount of people were looking to spend $5500. So if someone can put up $5600 cash I will sell it. $5600 for a real nice car. You will not be disappointed if you buy it. Call me at 267-546-6659

Re: 89 IROC-Z L98 w/ T5 and many other mods
I was gonna do that, but it sounds more like its coming right from the trans its self. Its kind of a high whine noise in low rpms. I was thinking it was the gears or something. I checked that it had enough fluid.

the tranny isn't broke, it just makes some noise. I don't think its major since it drives and shifts just fine. The lowest I'm looking to go is $5500.

come on people this car needs a new home. It just sits in a garage and gets fired up every week. Its at least worth taking a look at in person.
