Subwoofer in Passenger Footwell..?

Hi Guys,
My car is in the shop getting the full audio treatment. Since it is a convertible, I was going to have the shop make a custom box that followed the lines of the tranny hump in the rear seats. My goal with this stereo system was to make it simple, but sound good. Since my car is a convertible, I would need a great design. After kicking around a few ideas, the shop guys said that a 10in JL audio shallow woofer with custom enclosure in the passenger footwell would sound the best.
Do any of you guys have experience with this type of box? I should be getting the car back anytime now...just anxious and hopes it sounds amazing!

Re: Subwoofer in Passenger Footwell..?

I'm trying to imagine how this would work. I'm assuming you are placing 10 vertical firing towards the driver side. The problem I am seeing is the getting the correct airspace for the enclosure. Not sure which jl audio 10 he is referring to but the only jl 10 shallow sub I can find needs 1 cubic ft. Which seems monstrous for the passenger footwell. I would like to see what he works out. It should hit pretty hard being that it is in the passenger compartment. Keep us posted.

Re: Subwoofer in Passenger Footwell..?

Ive done 8's in footwells like that before. Im sure they will make a shallow jl10 work for ya.
What happen to you old box that was the rear seats area? I always likes that setup.

I woulda left it like this with new subs and an amp rack in the top.

Oh Shittt....I am glad you have that pic! I lost many of my older pics in a HD crash. I almost forgot what that box looked like. That box weighed a ton! I am going for a clean and simple look with the new build. They are using one 10' JL Audio 10TW3 as the sub woofer...the Morel Hybrids in the front and Alpine Type R 5 in the rear wings and a Sony double din head unit. I can't wait to hear this bitch!

Mine is progressing slow. Sold the Novi2000 supercharger to a member here.
Picked up a 78mm turbo. and doing that now. Tryng to trade off my FTI TH400 for a T56 setup.

on a diff. not. Wife and I are flying out to Cali in Nov. for a football game at candle stick. How far away are you again? We should do lunch or something. Wouldnt mind seeing the vert unless its already put away then.

Looks like you have your work cut out for your man...hehe. Although that turbo set up should be sweet!

Hit me up when you are down here. As long as it is not raining I will bring her out and we can hang out! I am about 45mins away from Candlestick.
