Do I need to change prom chip
Hi just rebuilt this 5.7 1988 tpi engine deleted air con and smog controls, also decatted exhaust, fitted 3'' magna flow, she starts and idles Ok without maf but when fit maf seems as if it over fuels strong smell of fuel and does not want to start, ? wondering if 9th injector cold start maybe be problem ? or should i get new chip, ?

I'm new at this, but from what I understand the o2 sensor is calibrated for the extra O2 thats being pumped in via the AIR system. with that gone, your emmisions will be seen as richer by the sensor and the computer will try to compensate for that. THis could cause the car to run a bit different. ideally, you want to get a new PROM burnt for your ECM.
looks like these guys can burn you a new chip for $65? http://www.gmtuners.com/eprom/index.htm That seems like a pretty awesome deal to me.... Got to look into that for myself.

Thanks for the input guys, i will prob go with new chip as Maf is fine and it's nothing to do with y pipe as does same without it in place, talking to company re chip now, thanks
